SPOON ‘MEMORY DUST’ EP OUT TODAY

ON TOUR IN THE UK AND EUROPE WITH THE BLACK KEYS

‘Lucifer on the Sofa is hands down one of the best rock albums released in the last few years; deeply inspired by the place it was written and recorded in, and full of honest and relatable introspection.’ – Loud & Quiet 9/10

“An album of breath-taking intensity…an instant classic” UNCUT

“Lucifer On The Sofa puts nary a foot wrong, its rich songwriting enlivened by thrilling flourishes…Elvis Costello on the streets, ZZ Top between the sheets” – MOJO 4*

‘It’s an album fuelled by southern heat, with plenty of grit to boot.’ […] ‘Tension operates on a knife’s edge throughout the record. Its rootsy blues grit has you thinking of gun holsters and twitching fingers; the bass gives an eyelid’s tremor as it narrows towards its target.’ […] ‘By a band’s 10th album, you’d assume there’d have been at least a few misfires. Not from Spoon.’ – Independent 5*

Out digitally today, Memory Dust features three brand new Spoon recordings – the original songs “Sugar Babies” and “Silver Girl,” plus a cover of Bo Diddley’s “She’s Fine, She’s Mine.” Listen HERE

Tomorrow, the band will kick off a run of dates that include slots supporting The Black Keys in the UK, France, and Germany. In August, they’ll be back on the road in the US touring alongside Weezer on the west coast. And in December, Spoon will visit Australia and New Zealand as guests of The War on Drugs. Find a complete rundown below.

The songs on Memory Dust aren’t b-sides. The recordings began during sessions for Spoon’s Grammy-nominated album, Lucifer on the Sofa, but were left unfinished. Following the record’s release and at the tail end of a year-plus of intense touring, the band came back to the sketches with renewed energy and fresh perspective. The completed tracks retain a touch of Lucifer’s character – rock ’n roll music, played in real-time – but stretch out hypnotically.

Lucifer on the Sofa is Spoon’s 10th album and its purest rock and roll record to date. Texas-made, it is the first set of songs that the quintet has put to tape in its hometown of Austin in more than a decade. The album has since swept 2022 year-end lists and returned the band to No. 1 on Billboard’s AAA chart for the first time in five years.
