LION Announces New Single ‘Fiction’
Debut Self-Titled EP Out Now
Rising British singer-songwriter LION (real name Beth Lowen) has today released her new single ‘Fiction’ via Fiction Records. The track is the second to be taken from her debut self-titled EP.
A live favourite, ‘Fiction’ is a high-energy riff heavy track combining jagged guitars, smashing drums and her incredibly raw unique voice. ‘I wrote Fiction about being lied to and how obvious it can be when someone is lying’ says Beth ‘It’s pretty crazy what people think they can get away with. This song is like my way of confronting that – whether it’s in politics or my own relationships’.
Her debut self-penned four track EP was recorded at London’s Snap Studios with producer Rich Cooper. Combining bluesy riffs with soaring choruses and led by LION’s unique rasping vocal prowess and deft guitar playing, the ‘LION’ EP is equal parts The White Stripes and Florence Welch.
2018 has seen LION play The Great Escape, Dot To Dot, Reeperbahn, Latitude and Boardmasters festivals, support the likes of Albert Hammond Jr, The Vaccines, Isaac Gracie and Girli, and sell out her own headline shows at The Lexington and Camden Assembly. Last single Oh No has been championed across the airwaves – receiving its first play from Steve Lamacq on his BBC 6 Music show, and was playlisted on BBC Radio 1. LION heads to Eurosonic Festival in Groningen in January 2019 as Steve Lamacq’s choice for BBC Introducing.
