Jack Savoretti has reconnected with his roots and produced the simply stunning, new, first-ever-all-Italian-speaking album Miss Italia – out May 10th.

The first single sees a beautiful collaboration between Jack and Italian superstar singer-songwriter Zucchero on the renowned track ‘Senza una Donna (Without A Woman)’ – listen here. Originally released in 1991 as a duet between Zucchero & Paul Young, the track has sold over 5 million copies worldwide, and this elevated new version is enriched by new arrangements and production.

Counted among the main exponents of blues in Italy, over a thirty-year career Zucchero has enjoyed considerable commercial success, selling more than 60 million records and counts world tours and frequent collaborations with the likes of Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Miles Davis, B.B. King and Sting – contributing considerably to extending his popularity beyond national borders.

Jack Savoretti’s reputation as a singer-songwriter is perfectly epitomised by the collaborators he attracts, including cultural icons the likes of Bob Dylan, Kylie Minogue, Shania Twain, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Nile Rodgers among many others. However, and albeit being bi-lingual from birth, writing in Italian was uncharted territory for an artist who has been making and sold millions of albums for over sixteen years, releasing seven over this period, two of which have reached #1 in the UK album charts – Singing To Strangers in 2019 and his most recent release, Europiana, in 2021.

True to his musical upbringing, a unique combination of 60s/ 70s California singer songwriters and European chansonniers the likes of Charles Azanvour and Lucio Battisti, for Miss Italia Jack went on a journey that saw him hone his craft even further and in a completely different language. He sourced a who’s who from the contemporary song writing scene in Italy. A group of fellow craftsmen and women who he could collaborate with and learn from. In doing so, he didn’t make an album in Italian, the made the new Jack Savoretti record which happens to be in Italian.

This came at an important moment in Jack’s life, as his Italian father had recently passed away. Jack explains; My father was the anchor that tied me to Italy, the connection to my roots that I felt I was at risk of losing without him. So I went back to school. I didn’t want to imitate Italian music, I wanted to make it my own, combining everything I had learned over almost 20 years of experience from working in America, England, and Italy, merging Anglo-Saxon singer-songwriting with Italian to create something unique. I first had to learn to write in Italian before making MY album in Italian.”

The beautiful results are Miss Italia – an album that sounds every bit Jack Savoretti whilst also being a first.
