The Art of Self-Isolation

New Single ‘Better Alone’

Taken From Debut ‘Inside/Outside’ Mixtape Out Now

Introducing one of the UK’s most exciting new artists and multi-instrumentalists, Sid Stone. Poised to help guide the UK through these dark times, Sid’s poignant debut single ‘Better Alone’ is the lead track from his auspicious ‘Inside/Outside’ mixtape, out now on Hotspring Music.

Recorded at Mick Jones’ (The Clash) studio in North Acton with his best mates and long-time collaborators Joy Anonymous and man of the moment Fred Again (Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, Headie One), lead single ‘Better Alone’ came as an idea on a late walk back from a shift at Bush Hall. The piano driven, jazz influenced track is a chameleon-like pop vibe, sitting as perfectly on a stereo in lockdown, as it does at a sun blushed sunrise party.

Shot at Sid’s Local pub The White Horse in Shepherds Bush and the Somerset Hills, the accompanying video, captured both before and during lockdown manifests the stark contrasts of how life has changed over recent months. The stunning video was directed by Sid and produced by Tom Pomphrey and Fergus Haughton, with animations by Laura N-Tamara.

“It’s all about making peace with being alone, but also it came out of situations built on friendship and love.” Sid said of the track. “So who knows: the truth is sometimes hidden between two opposites!”

A sum greater than its individual parts, ‘Inside/Outside’ mixtape is a rhapsody of isolation, a heartfelt elegy to the process of withdrawing/going within as a necessary means to personal and artistic fulfilment. Composed of 6-tracks intertwined by real-world interludes and bookended by the tender ‘Now I’m Alone’ and euphoric ‘Know Well’, the mixtape is brimming with vocals drenched in soul, heartfelt lyrics, emotional pianos and distant drums. ‘Giving us an insight into Sid’s world ‘Inside/Outside’ leads the listener through Sid’s reality of raw perfection and on a journey of self-isolation relevant to the world’s current climate.

Speaking of ‘Inside/Outside’ Sid said, “it’s like a document of my life as a songwriter in London: the sounds of Shepherds Bush, the frustrations of trying to be good at writing songs, the internal world that gets explored parallel to the outside world around us.” He continues, “the pressure, the emotional strain, all of that filtering in from the city and out from me and back again in this hyper loop of man and surrounding.” A mixtape that is as timely as it is necessary right now.

Listen to ‘Inside/Outside’ EP HERE

Hailing from Somerset, Sid Stone is a seasoned songwriter and a true artist of his craft. With influences taken from a large gene pool borrowing elements from soul, jazz, pop, rap & dance music, his raw and eloquently disheveled vocals bring together a remarkably diverse, but accessible sound. The multifaceted musician is also co-producing the forthcoming Kurupt FM album with Fred Again and Joy Anonymous and is a regular collaborator with pop starlets and underground legends alike. Sid Stone is poised for greatness and is an artist that is as exciting as he is essential.

#1 Billboard 200 Album What You See Is What You Get– Out Now

ACM, CMA and CMT Award-winning artist Luke Combs has released his new song, “Six Feet Apart,” today. Co-written with Brent Cobb and Rob Snyder, Combs originally debuted the song last month during a livestream concert.

Listen to ‘Six Feet Apart’ HERE

The new song adds to a series of groundbreaking and historic years for Combs, who is nominated in three categories at the 55th ACM Awards: Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for his acclaimed global No. 1 record, What You See Is What You Get.

What You See Is What You Get—out now on River House Artists/Columbia Nashville debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart as well as Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart this past November with 172,000 equivalent units sold and also enjoyed the largest streaming week ever for a country album with 74 million on-demand streams. It also achieved the biggest first week of album streams ever for a country artist on Apple Music and was the first country album ever to hit No. 1 on the platform’s U.S. overall albums chart, while also setting a new global record for first-week streams for a country album at Spotify and breaking the Amazon Music record for more first-week streams than any other country album debut. Moreover, Combs made his debut as the musical guest on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” earlier this year with host JJ Watt performing two songs from, What You See Is What You Get: “Lovin’ On You” and “Beer Never Broke My Heart.”

Produced by Scott Moffatt, What You See Is What You Get features 17 songs including the five tracks previously released via The Prequel EP last summer. The EP debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart with all five tracks charting on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Top 25—a feat not accomplished by any artist in 60 years since Johnny Cash in 1959. Additionally, Combs’ last single, “Even Though I’m Leaving,” spent three weeks at No. 1 at country radio, making it Combs’ seventh consecutive No. 1—a first on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, while his current single, “Does To Me” featuring Eric Church, is already Top 10 at country radio.

Adding to his landmark year, Combs’ debut album, This One’s For You, was recently certified RIAA Triple Platinum. Since its release in 2017, the album has spent 50 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart—tying the record for the longest reign atop the chart with Shania Twain’s Come On Over in 1997. This One’s For You was also the most-streamed country album of 2019. Moreover, several of Combs’ songs have also received new RIAA certifications: 4x Platinum “Beautiful Crazy,” 4x Platinum “When It Rains It Pours,” 2x Platinum “She Got The Best of Me” and Platinum “Must’ve Never Met You.”

With a stripped back sound and the girls’ captivating harmonies perfectly intertwined, ‘Hold Space’ is a moving track about the importance of ‘holding space’ for those closest to us, and chimes with significance in the wake of the outbreak.

On the track Catherine said, “’Hold Space’ is a song that we felt like we needed to write, we live in a world of advice and “shoulds” and sometimes we just need to be there to walk beside our loved ones while they find their own way. It is a song for anyone going through a tough time, and a lesson we will keep learning when going through our own struggles.”

‘Hold Space’ is the second track to be taken from their forthcoming EP ‘The Space Between’. Out 14th August 2020 on Polydor Records

New Single ‘Do You Really Wanna Know?’

UK Autumn Tour Includes London O2 Academy Brixton

After taking 2019 by the scruff of the neck and making it their own, as well as a blistering trajectory in 2020, Sea Girls have come out all guns blazing with the announcement of their emotionally charged, deeply personal, hook laden debut album Open Up Your Head – out August 14th on Polydor.

Featuring fourteen doses of memorable jagged guitar-pop brilliance, the LP was  produced by Larry Hibbitt in London. Open Up Your Head is available in special coloured vinyl, limited edition picture disc, CD, cassette and digital.

Today also sees the band share a brand new single from the album entitled ‘Do You Really Wanna Know?’ which premiered as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record’ on BBC Radio 1 last night, and follows the brilliant ‘Ready For More’ which has already enjoyed mainstream airplay and an addition to the Radio 1 B List.

With album Open Up Your Head, the band’s songwriting has elevated, with frontman Henry Camamile stepping into the spotlight as a genuine storyteller for his generation. The album is fit to burst with colourful melodies, guitar and synth hooks – an explosion of joyous indie rock held together to reflect Camamile’s darker songwriting on topics such as a previous traumatic head injury, the anxiety that ensued, and resulting adolescent vices.

In accessing those darkest and least comfortable parts of himself the record becomes one of hope.

Henry, Rory, Andrew and Oli, the bastard sons of The Killers & The Strokes, have created a debut body of work, including songs from lead guitarist Rory Young, that are stunningly uplifting, ferociously reflective, delicately vulnerable, and most importantly – brutally honest.

Henry admits his and Rory’s writing – and the bands performing – comes right from the heart. With storytelling being reminiscent of a young Brandon Flowers Henry explains; “I don’t buy all the love and flowers stuff. Real relationships fall apart, you get hurt and you have to deal with it so you do what you have to do to get over it. I think what has saved me is music.”

Sea Girls, one of the most enthralling young indie guitar bands to have emerged in recent times, are a band aiming first and foremost at being the singalong torch bearers for a whole new wave of UK guitar bands.

Taking their inspiration as kids, when The Killers, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys debut albums were released, much of their success is driven by their energetic live performances and uncanny ability to write adrenaline-heavy guitar anthems with songs like  ‘Violet’  and ‘All I Want To Hear You Say’, and the release of their latest EP Under Exit Lights

Renowned for their frenetic, sweat-drenched sold-out live shows, the band will kick off their rescheduled April UK dates by upgrading the venues to play their biggest headline shows to date in November 2020, it will see them play 3 upgraded venues including a career defining night at London’s legendary O2 Brixton Academy on 6th November.

Ticket holders for April’s postponed shows at London Roundhouse, Manchester Ritz, Glasgow Garage and Birmingham Academy will be valid for the now upgraded dates in November. Before that, the band will light up festival stages across the back end of summer, including prestigious spots at Reading & Leeds, TRNSMT, Spain’s Mad Cool, Berlin’s Lollapalooza, and more.

For details of a very special fan presale for the upgraded shows, head to the official Sea Girls store at seagirls.net Tickets on sale Thursday 7th May.

Growing up on the coast of Massachusetts, Diana was immersed in a bohemian upbringing where she moved from place to place with hippie parents. That same restless spirit inhabited Diana: she always had a sense that there was something out there beyond where she grew up and that existence. At 19, after going to college for one week, Diana left because she was certain music was her path. For the past five years, she’s focused on just that, spending her time traveling and playing small gigs around America, while waitressing and honing her craft.

Diana and Simone teamed up with Simone’s long-time co-producer and arranger David Baron at their Catskill Mountain studio overlooking the Shokan Reservoir outside Woodstock where the music flowed quickly and freely, and together they began to record.

Releases Debut Collection of Erotic Short Stories and Photographs This June,

Stories By Her And Photographs By Johnny Hostile

Songwriter, singer, and multi-disciplinary artist Jehnny Beth has released a brilliant video for her new song, “Flower,” today.  The video, which was helmed by acclaimed director Anthony Byrne (Peaky Blinders), is Jehnny Beth’s second cinematic collaboration with Byrne; the first was the video for “I’m The Man,” which was lauded by the New York Times for its “bravado and tenderness.”

CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “FLOWER”

“Flower” sees Jehnny Beth heading in completely different sonic territory to “I’m The Man,” taming the former’s tempestuous pulse into something simmering and sensual.  Written about a pole dancer at notorious strip club Jumbo’s Clown Room in Los Angeles, “Flower” details the complicated depths of sexuality tangled in a fever dream reverie of desire and loss.

“Flower” is one of many incredible songs on Jehnny Beth’s recently announced solo album, To Love Is To Live, on May 8th, 2020 via Caroline Records.  The record, which was recorded in Los Angeles, London, and Paris, features a number of collaborators, including producers Flood, Atticus Ross, longtime co-creator Johnny Hostile, and Adam ‘Cecil’ Bartlett, and guest turns from The xx’s Romy Madley Croft, actor Cillian Murphy, and IDLES’ Joe Talbot.

In addition to releasing To Love Is To Live this spring, Jehnny Beth will also be releasing Crimes Against Love Manifesto (C.A.L.M.), her first book featuring a collection of her erotic short stories along with photography from Johnny Hostile, on June 11, 2020 via White Rabbit. The book is a collaboration with longtime creative partner Johnny Hostile, whose photographs punctuate Jehnny Beth’s stories. C.A.L.M. looks set to establish Jehnny Beth and Johnny Hostile as two of the bravest and most provocative voices in fiction and erotic art today. See below for the C.A.L.M manifesto and order the book HERE.

C.A.L.M.

Crimes Against Love Manifesto

because a life lived in fear is equal to no life at all

I won’t gamble our existence on the fickle world of ‘what will they think’

and wake up one day thinking I have wasted the wonderful fact of my own existence

I won’t worry about fear, jealousy, solitude

the system that weighs duty against desire and pronounces desire the looser

they’re all byproducts of love

unavoidable obstacles implanted in our core

by generations of parents, grand-parents and all the people

who fall in love and yet are unhappy

and who blaming themselves for having lived too timidly

will attack me for having dared

I live on the other side of their wall

I break through their rules of loving

searching for my own alternative ways

no matter the morals agreed collectively

the prudishness and punishments

the accepted forms of loving, family, monogamy

and far too much imprisonment

in secret, in the safety of my apartment, inside our heads

I will create a space where they don’t belong

a place where I am free

my neighbours won’t know about it

my family won’t know about it

and those who think they can be part of it

but haven’t made the sacrifice

are not welcome

there, I will practise my secret rituals

with those who have defeated their fears

days and nights, out of sight and silently

Best known as the charismatic lead singer and co-writer of UK band Savages, who received Mercury Prize nominations for both of their now-classic two albums Silence Yourself (2013) and Adore Life (2016), Jehnny Beth’s voice, lyrical perspective, and incredible live performances have captivated audiences since the early Aughts.  But it’s in To Love Is To Live that Jehnny Beth truly steps into – and claims – the spotlight.  The album is a sonic tour de force, a dark cinematic meditation on the strange business of being alive. Throughout the record, she explores the deepest reaches of her creative consciousness…wrapped in a whirlwind of sounds.  Indeed, in accessing those darkest and least comfortable parts of herself, Jehnny Beth has created a piece of work that is stunningly cathartic, fiercely abrasive, delicately exposed, and rich for discourse.

From subverting power balances (“I’m The Man”) to marrying dense textures with stark instrumentation (“The Rooms”) to walking the thin line between the sacred and the profane to explore existential themes (“French Countryside”), To Love Is To Live sees Jehnny Beth giving her intense vulnerability a glorious voice – musically and lyrically — like no one else making music today.  Which is to say:  The album is a sublime tumble through life’s loftiest questions, an album forged from the ambition and courage of an artist putting everything she’d got right — and indeed everything she is — into the music.

Jehnny Beth will be playing select shows throughout 2020.  Tour dates are:

Out May 15th on Thirty Tigers
EU Headline Tour Including London Eventim Apollo – November 17th

Four time Grammy Award winner Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit are back with aplomb and return with their exceptional new album ‘Reunions’ – out May 15th on Thirty Tigers. The first hit of music comes in the shape of melody-packed, anthemic new single ‘Be Afraid’ – listen here.

‘Reunions’ was recorded with the 400 Unit and produced by celebrated producer and long time collaborator Dave Cobb. Isbell is at the very top of his game and is widely acclaimed as one of the best songwriters and possesses a devoted audience who have pushed his last two albums into the Top 20 in the UK, and straight to the top of the US charts.

“Success is a very nice problem to have but I think ‘how do I get through it and not lose what made me good in the first place?’” he says. “A lot of these songs and the overall concept of this album is how do I progress as an artist and a human being and still keep that same hunger that I had when I wasn’t quite so far along in either respect.” Isbell’s solution: to go back in time with his hard-gained knowledge.

The result is a seamless collection of ten new songs that delve into relationships with lovers, friends, children, parents, and one’s self. There are rousing anthems that will have stadiums singing along, lyrical standouts that highlight some of Isbell’s best writing to date, moving looks at youth and childhood, a deep dive into the challenges of relationships, and deeply personal songs about alcoholism and parenthood. All of them offer us an artist at the height of his powers and a band fully charged with creativity and confidence.

At the back end of last year, Isbell sold out his inaugural, self-curated ShoalsFest, that took place in October in Muscle Shoals, AL, with performances from Sheryl Crow, Mavis Staples & Amanda Shires, in addition to Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit. The band also performed a seven-night sold out run at Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium, making it the longest stand the group has had at the venue to date.

Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit will also hit the road in Europe during November, with ten dates across the continent. Following on from previous double nights at London’s HMV Forum and one night at the Roundhouse, Isbell will now take on the iconic Eventim Apollo on the 17th.

2020 is set to be a huge year. The sheer power and nuance of Isbell and the mighty 400 Unit is well and truly back and plain to see.

The band play the following EU headline dates with support from The Rails:

#1 Billboard 200 Album What You See Is What You Get – Out Now
Headlining London’s O2 Arena 15th March

Ahead of his headline slot at this year’s C2C Festival, one of the hottest country acts in the world, Luke Combs, has today revealed his exceptional new UK single ‘Refrigerator Door’. The track is the second to be taken from his Billboard Top 200 topping album What You See Is What You Get, which came out in late 2019.

Produced by Scott Moffatt, ‘Refrigerator Door’ is a guitar-driven country anthem, made to light arenas around the world. Always honest and raw with his lyrics, the track sees Luke sing about the often-forgotten memories held on his refrigerator door. Speaking of the track Luke said ‘Growing up my mom always had stuff all over the fridge. Like, take out menus, pictures of my family, our dogs and cats, pictures of me on the first day of kindergarten, letters from her friends, and just the whole thing was just covered in stuff.’ He continues ‘I just felt like there was something interesting about the idea that so many people have so much stuff on their refrigerator. It just kind of became like this place to collect memories for some odd reason’.

Listen to ‘Refrigerator Door’ HERE

March 2020 sees Luke Combs head to the UK where he’ll headline the legendary C2C Festival. Combs will be performing alongside artists including Brett Young, Darius Rucker & Eric Church, who also features on the album. Dates below:

March
Fri 13th                        C2C GLASGOW, SSE Hydro
Sat 14th                      C2C DUBLIN, 3Arena
Sun 15th                     C2C LONDON, O2 Arena

Out May 8th on Caroline Records

Reveals New Single ‘Flower’

Songwriter, singer, and multi-disciplinary artist Jehnny Beth will release her debut solo album, To Love Is To Live, on May 8th, 2020 via Caroline Records.  The record, which was recorded in Los Angeles, London, and Paris, features a number of collaborators, including producers Flood, Atticus Ross, and longtime co-creator Johnny Hostile, and guest turns from The xx’s Romy Madley Croft, actor Cillian Murphy, and IDLES’ Joe Talbot.

Today Jehnny Beth also shares a new song from the album entitled “Flower,” which follows last year’s stand alone single “I’m The Man,” which was lauded by the New York Times for its “bravado and tenderness.”   “I’m The Man” also saw the beginning of Jehnny Beth’s cinematic collaboration with acclaimed director Anthony Byrne (Peaky Blinders).

In addition to her work creating To Love Is To Live, Jehnny Beth’s also kept busy performing and recording with other artists including PJ Harvey, the xx, Anna Calvi, Gorillaz, and Julian Casablancas.  She’s also brought her artistry to other mediums as well —  receiving a nomination for “Most Promising Actress” for a coveted Cesar award for her acting work in An Impossible Love while starring in Alexandre Astier’s Kaamelottt this coming July.  She also hosts a Beats 1 radio program called “Start Making Sense” and has recently debuted a new music series for Arte called “Echoes with Jehnny Beth,” which can be seen on TV in France and Germany and worldwide via the Arte website.

Highly Anticipated New Album Set For Release on March 20th

New Track ‘Ia’ Out Now

Two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi-platinum country/pop songstress Kelsea Ballerini has announced details for her eagerly anticipated new album ‘kelsea (Black River Entertainment). Set for release on March 20th, Kelsea Ballerini has also debuted a new album track “la” and an accompanying music video.

Watch ‘la’ HERE

“As I grow up, as a woman and an artist, I’ve felt myself changing my perspective, from my view on love and life, to how love and life make me feel. Naturally that turns more personal, more therapeutic, and more rewarding. This album is honest, it’s country, it’s experimental, it’s fun, it’s introspective, and it’s 100% me. It’s the album that’s puts us on a first name basis.”

Having grown up in Knoxville, and currently living in Nashville, “la” is a love/hate letter to the entertainment capital of the West Coast. The “la” video is a dreamily shot travelogue of sorts, with an intentionally jittery camera following her around Los Angeles to her favorite spots. It is equal parts playful and visceral.  In the song, Kelsea lyrically admits her insecurities with fame—”I’m on my third glass a wine trying to find conversation in a room with bigger names”—while also enthusing, “Other times I feel like my blood is running Cali.”

Kelsea Ballerini first took the country music world by storm with her 2015 debut The First Time, which went on to achieve certified gold status. Since that time, her singular talents as a vocalist, songwriter and performer have brought a new dimension to the genre, blending mature, emotional songcraft, with youthful, poignant honesty, and a natural musical gracefulness.

She has consistently made history, becoming the only female country artist to achieve number one with her first three consecutive singles from a debut album, attainting her fifth number one in four years with the platinum “Miss Me More.” Additionally, she was welcomed as the Grand Ole Opry’s youngest current member. Her critically acclaimed sophomore album Unapologetically marked her second Top 5 debut on the Billboard Top 200. Ballerini has garnered two GRAMMY® Award nominations, won two ACM Awards, and took home the iHeartRadio Music Awards honor for “Best New Artist. Most recently, Ballerini received a 2019 CMA nomination for “Female Vocalist of the Year” and a 2019 American Music Award nomination for “Female Artist Country.”

With multiple platinum singles, her total streams exceed two billion to date. Her current single “homecoming queen?” is climbing at No.18 on the Mediabase chart and No. 20 on the Billboard Country airplay chart. In addition to touring alongside everyone from Kelly Clarkson to Keith Urban, she ascended to the status of arena headliner with her 2019 the Miss Me More Tour. It has all paved the way for her greatly anticipated third full-length album, which promises to be her most personal yet.
