DAUGHTER OF THE LATE GREAT ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME SINGER

LEADS OPPOSITION TO MARRIOTT ESTATE-APPROVED PROJECT

GROWING LIST OF SUPPORTERS INCLUDES:

SMALL FACES’ KENNEY JONES AND HUMBLE PIE’S PETER FRAMPTON & JERRY SHIRLEY, ROBERT PLANT, DAVID GILMOUR,

PAUL WELLER, PAUL RODGERS, JOE BROWN, BRYAN ADAMS, MATT SORUM, GLENN HUGHES, GARY KEMP, BOB HARRIS, AND MORE

The debate over AI-generated vocals continued this week with an exclusive Variety feature article by executive music editor Jem Aswad reporting on a still-growing list of celebrated musicians uniting with Mollie Marriott, daughter of the late Steve Marriott, in objection to plans by the Marriott Estate to release “new” recordings from the legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame singer created with AI-powered technology. A wide range of Marriott’s close friends and fellow artists have joined together in opposition to the project, including Marriott’s former bandmates Small FacesKenney Jones and Humble Pie’s Peter Frampton and Jerry Shirley, along with Robert Plant, David Gilmour, Paul Weller, Paul Rodgers, Joe Brown, Bryan Adams, Matt Sorum, Glenn Hughes, Gary Kemp, Bob Harris, and others.

As reported by Variety, Los Angeles-based independent label Cleopatra Records has engaged in discussions with the Marriott estate about completing some of his unfinished demos with the aid of AI technology, though the label ultimately plans to release the recordings in their original form “for now” via three as-yet-unscheduled compilations.  Chris France, who has been managing director of Marriott’s estate since 1997, admits that while “there are no confirmed plans to use Steve Marriott’s voice on AI recordings, that does not mean a deal will not be done with one of several suitors who have made offers…I am afraid that [Mollie Marriott’s] opinions are of no consequence to me or his estate.”

Humble Pie founding member, drummer Jerry Shirley, confirmed an attempt by Cleopatra to create a version of the “Georgia on My Mind” with AI-generated vocals “by” Marriott which he could then compare the result with his memories of Marriott’s own informal renditions of the song. The AI recording was “horrible,” Shirley told Variety. “It sounded like someone trying to sound like someone trying to sound like Steve Marriott.”

“The Marriott Estate is due to release an AI solo album of old and new songs of my father, Steve,” said Mollie Marriott in a previously released official statement. “Sadly, the surviving family which comprises just my siblings Lesley, Toby, Tonya, and I, have nothing to do with the Estate as there was no will. It is run by my stepmother who was only with my father for two years prior to his death and has since been re-married.

“We, along with his bandmates of Humble Pie and Small Faces are looking to stop this album from happening as it would be a stain on my father’s name. Someone who was known as one of the greatest vocalists of our generation, with such a live and raw vocal, it would absolutely break his heart if he were alive to know this. This is only for money, not art nor appreciation.

“It is the start of a campaign I wish to lead against this sort of thing, where deceased artists have no rights and that everything natural in this world is truly dying, including creativity and the arts, as AI comes into play. It’s a sad world to behold.”

Widely regarded among the greatest rock ‘n’ roll singers of all time, Steve Marriott who passed away in 1991 at the age of 44, was among the most gifted and iconic artists in the long-storied history of British music. In a career which spanned two decades, the singer-songwriter-guitarist co-founded two of the most acclaimed and influential bands of the 1960s and 1970s, Small Faces (with whom he was posthumously inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame) and Humble Pie. Small Faces proved as influential as any band of their extraordinary era, bridging R&B, pop, soul, psychedelia, and the primal power of what soon became known as punk rock. The band’s distinctly English sound and vision later provided a blueprint for the Britpop movement of the 1990s. Upon Small Faces’ dissolution, Marriott co-founded Humble Pie and once again left his mark on rock ‘n’ roll with a new kind of hard rock built upon riff-driven no-frills boogie and simple raw power.

Marriott was already a star by the time he co-founded Small Faces, first as a child actor performing on London’s West End as The Artful Dodger in Oliver! and then as 16-year-old leader of the popular R&B group, The Moments. Marriott came together with drummer Kenney Jones and the late bassist-songwriter Ronnie Lane as Small Faces in 1965, joined the following year by keyboardist Ian MacLagan. The band immediately ascended to the forefront of the Mod scene with their high energy sound, fronted by Marriott’s unmistakable soul-influenced vocals. Over their short but blazing lifespan, Small Faces scored eight UK Top 10 singles, including “Whatcha Gonna Do About It” (later covered by the Sex Pistols), “Here Comes The Nice,” “Itchycoo Park,” “Lazy Sunday,” “Tin Soldier,” and the #1 hit, “All or Nothing.” Their final album, 1968’s classic Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake, spent six weeks atop the album chart and to this day stands tall as a British psychedelic rock landmark for its singular collage of rousing lysergic R&B, folk eccentricity and pop-art imagination.

Marriott departed Small Faces in 1969 and teamed with guitarist Peter Frampton, bassist Greg Ridley, and drummer Jerry Shirley as Humble Pie. Considered one of the first supergroups for each members’ previous involvement in other popular bands, Humble Pie instantly proved a momentous outfit, their crushing blend of hard rock, boogie, and blues providing an early example what came to be known as heavy metal. Marriott led Humble Pie through UK and US success in a range of incarnations, encompassing a further range of influences – from country to soul – but all were hailed for their charged live performances and of course, Marriott’s irrepressible vocals and songcraft at the forefront. A variety of reunions, collaborations, and solo efforts followed Humble Pie’s initial success. Marriott carried on through the 1980s, lighting up live stages in the UK and the US with over 200 gigs each year before his death in a fire at his Essex home on April 20, 1991.

CONFIRMED TO PERFORM ON JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! ON MAY 8th

NEW ALBUM, NEON PILL, OUT ON MAY 17 VIA RCA RECORDS

45-DATE NORTH AMERICAN SUMMER TOUR KICKS OFF ON JUNE 20TH

Cage The Elephant, the GRAMMY® Award winning rock band share their new single ‘Metaverse,’ taken from their forthcoming album Neon Pill (May 17, RCA Records). The song follows recent singles from the new album including ‘Good Time,’ ‘Out Loud’ and ‘Neon Pill,’ which scored the band their 11th #1 song on Billboard’s Alternative Chart. Listen to “Metaverse” here and watch the new lyric directed video by Robert Beatty here.

Ahead of the release of their new album, Cage The Elephant will perform their song ‘Rainbow’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on May 8th. The band will perform on the show’s outdoor stage and their appearance will air on ABC at 11:35PM ET on May 8th.

Neon Pill finds the Kentucky-bred six piece—brothers Matthew Shultz [vocals] and Brad Shultz [guitar], Daniel Tichenor [bass], Jared Champion [drums], Nick Bockrath [lead guitar], and Matthan Minster [guitar, keys, backing vocals]— forging new musical ground, while maintaining their uncompromising creativity and wildly cathartic performances. “To me, Neon Pill is the first record where we were consistently uninfluenced, and I mean that in a positive way,” observes Matthew. “Everything is undoubtedly expressed through having settled into finding our own voice. We’ve always drawn inspiration from artists we love, and at times we’ve even emulated some of them to a certain degree. With this album, having gone through so much, life had almost forced us into becoming more and more comfortable with ourselves. We weren’t reaching for much outside of the pure experience of self expression, and simultaneously not necessarily settling either. We just found a uniqueness in simply existing.” The album is available to pre-order on all formats here

Cage The Elephant’s 45-date North American US tour, produced by Live Nation, will kick off on June 20 in Salt Lake City with shows in cities including Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City, with support from Young The Giant & Bakar on most dates.  Tickets and VIP available for all dates are on sale now here

From their humble beginnings in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Cage The Elephant have gone on to become one of the generation’s premier rock bands. They have earned dozens of Gold, Platinum, and Multiplatinum certifications, tallied over 5 billion streams, and notched eleven #1 records on Alternative Radio and 5 #1 records on Triple A Radio. Their previous two albums Tell Me I’m Pretty [2015] and Social Cues [2019] garnered consecutive Best Rock Album GRAMMY® Awards. They are maybe most celebrated for their live show. The stage is their home turf, where they are most comfortable, and their performances, ecstatic and unchained, as well as cathartic and soul bearing are what Neon Pill achieves in documenting.

Neon Pill, produced by John Hill, materialized during sessions at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Electric Lady in New York, Sound Emporium in Nashville, Echo Mountain in North Carolina, and at Hill’s own studio in Los Angeles, and alchemized a season of tragedy and turbulence into the twelve tracks on their sixth full-length album. Nine months into the pandemic, Matthew and Brad lost their father. The band weathered the back-to-back deaths of friends, while Matthew experience depression and a mental breakdown, culminating in hospitalization. Coming out on the other side, he learned quite a bit about himself, and gained a whole lot of strength and wisdom. Neon Pill came to life in the eye of the storm.

Forthcoming Album Beneath The Neon Glow

Out August 9th On Cooking Vinyl Records

16 Date UK Autumn Headline Tour Announced
Includes London’s Islington Assembly Hall – November 2nd

Following the announcement of her forthcoming album and fresh from picking up the ‘Vocalist Of The Year’ award at this year’s UK Blues Awards, UK based genre-blending roots singer songwriter Elles Bailey releases her stunning new single ‘Leave The Light On’. The track is the second to be taken from Beneath The Neon Glow, which comes August 9th on Cooking Vinyl Records.

An infectious, guitar driven anthem packed to the brim with emotion, ‘Leave The Light On’ is Elles at the top of her game. “You have to be a certain selfless type of person who supports another to realise their dreams and that’s exactly the type of person I married,” Elles muses. “So this is my autobiographical open and honest love letter to my husband. The track is inspired by the time I missed my train home from London and ended up coming back really late at night feeling exceptionally guilty as I had been away so much, but as I arrived home, outside our house, the light has been left on and this small gesture just felt so welcoming and supportive and the next day this song was penned.” Listen to ‘Leave The Light’ On HERE & watch the video HERE.

Beneath The Neon Glow sees Elles intertwine British roots, Americana and blues across ten powerfully, uplifting tracks. Produced by Dan Weller (Enter Shikari) and recorded with Elles’ exceptional and trusted live band, the album is an exploration of love’s myriad forms. Through lyrically vulnerable and brutally honest songwriting, Elles delves into the depths of heartbreak, the resilience of friendship, and the enduring power of love that spans a lifetime. From the fleeting moments to the love that withstands the test of time, she fearlessly navigates through the spectrum of human emotion, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into her journey.

I might be new to some people, but I have been around for quite a long while. I’m not here for a flash-in-the-pan moment. I want a long-term career in music. I love what I do. I love that I get to take it around the world. So if I can continue to do that, and just play to larger audiences and continue to grow, that’s exactly what I’ll do.”

Elles will also head out on a huge UK headline tour later this year, which includes a date at London’s Islington Assembly Hall on November 2nd. Tickets on sale HERE.

Out Now via Adeem’s Own Four Quarters Records & Thirty Tigers

Plays 5 UK Dates In August

Including The Long Road Festival – Aug 24th

Headlines London, The Lexington – Aug 27th

“Adeem The Artist: crafting a country music of their own”New York Times

The Tennessee-based, non-binary and pansexual artist blends classic country instrumentation with a rough-hewn voice and plainspoken, keen observations about the insidiousness of local politics.” – Billboard

Tapping into the sound of Piedmont Blues, culminating in a stunning tribute to the soul of the South, country music sensation Adeem The Artist releases their inimitable new album Anniversary – produced by Butch Walker – via Four Quarters Records and Thirty Tigerswhich has spawned walloping singles ‘Socialite Blues’, ‘One Night Stand’ and ‘Rotations’.

Adeem will also bring a revered live show to the UK in August for four headline shows, including London’s The Lexington, as well as performing at this year’s The Long Road Festival.

Growing up, Adeem the Artist quickly realized that with the right delivery, dark jokes could offer a socially acceptable way to open up about the tough stuff. Of course, since before 2021’s Cast-Iron Pansexual—the album that earned Adeem the Artist praise from Rolling Stone and American Songwriter for its examination of faith, sexual identity, and self-acceptance—Adeem the Artist has continued to build a dedicated following by blending Appalachian musical influences and poetic flair with their healthy dose of comedic instinct.

Recorded live to tape over five days at The Butcher Shop (Nashville, TN) and produced by Butch Walker (Taylor Swift, Frank Turner) with the master musicianship of Megan Coleman (Brandi Carlile), Nelson Williams (Jake Blount), Ellen Angelico (Wheeler Walker Jr.), Jessye DeSilva, Aaron Lee Tasjan, and Katie Pruitt, the 12-song collection is a stunning statement of empathy, humor, and deep introspection.

“It’s wild to listen to some of the early Country versus Piedmont Blues stuff and how much race is used to draw red lines around genre access,” says Adeem The Artist, the East Tennessee-based songwriter whose family settled in the lower Piedmont region way back when. Initially, Adeem was unsure about exploring the genre for that reason alone, but a growing obsession with Piedmont Blues led to them plugging into some sense of their ancestry in the region and drawing influence directly from greats like Blind Boy Fuller and Brownie McGhee for  string of songs from an artist who uses their platform to spotlight some of the unsung voices of Country music’s past and present.

Producer Butch Walker’s ability to blend sounds from classic to contemporary, commercial to experimental, gives Adeem license to play with a range of musical styles on Anniversary, while still remaining tethered to country and roots music. Fittingly, Anniversary also arrives on the date of Adeem’s marriage to their spouse Hannah, bringing with it a heightened sense of intimacy and urgency from a songwriter whose work is characterized by fearless, incisive lyric writing.

In addition to the UK dates, Adeem will hit the road in the US supporting both Tyler Childers and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit in June and July. A full list of tour dates and tickets can be found at adeemtheartist.com/shows.

Out Now
Headline Show Announced @ London’s Omeara

October 10th, 2024

“A movingly pragmatic distinction between desire and self-respect set to pedal steel.” – THE GUARDIAN

Razor-sharp lyrics, confiding, crystalline vocals and nods to classic country rock & soft pop, with
results that are ensnaring & bewitching” – SUNDAY TIMES

“Modern-day reflections on disco euphoria and Canyon contemplation.” – UNCUT

“Bursting with blues-rock and blissed-out psychedelia.”PITCHFORK

Off the back of an intimate sellout show at London’s Slaughtered Lamb last week, one of the US’ finest rising artists Pearl Charles returns with brand new music – the simply stunning new single ‘Smoke In The Limousine’ – listen here.

The track arrives in conjunction with the announcement of her biggest UK headline show to date, set for October 10th at London’s Omeara.

Guided by a stunning acoustic guitar, strings and Pearl’s vocals, ‘Smoke In The Limousine’ is haunting, yet beautiful, whilst simultaneously channelling the trippier side of The Beatles. It was recorded at Infinitespin Studio in LA and produced by Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, Local Natives, FIDLAR).

Of the track, Pearl explains; “‘Smoke In the Limousine’, like a tarot card spread or a palm reading, speaks of our past, present and future, as well as the conscious and subconscious interpretations we project onto all three states of time. Envisioned “smoke and mirrors” inside limousines that both promise grandeur and luxury, but also may not be all that they initially seem to be – if they ever even come to be at all. Still, we find ourselves hanging onto hope for the future, even if it may turn out to be entirely illusory.”

2021 saw the release of Pearl’s highly acclaimed album Magic Mirror, which drew high praise from the likes of The Guardian, Sunday Times, Uncut, Pitchfork and saw single ‘Givin’ It Up’ light up the airwaves on BBC 6 Music.

Pearl has been playing music since she was five years old. At 18, she formed country duo The Driftwood Singers with Christian Lee Hutson, singing and playing guitar and autoharp. After a few fun-filled years immersed in the rock and roll lifestyle, she decided it was time to pursue her own songwriting, and began developing the songs that formed 2015’s eponymous debut EP and additional debut LP that came out in 2018 on Kanine Records. She has headlined national and international dates as well as shared the stage with contemporaries Weyes Blood, Best Coast, Sunflower Bean, Mac Demarco, Conor Oberst, The Teskey Brothers etc, as well as festival plays like ACL, Pickathon and Desert Daze.

Her music career has been a chronological progression from old-time music to 60’s garage and psychedelia, and now more 70’s country and soft rock. Drawn to catchy, poppy hooks and choruses, Pearl draws on what she loves about each era while developing her unique style and voice as a musician, singer, and songwriter.

Tickets for Pearl’s headline show at London’s Omeara on October 10th are available HERE.

Sophomore Album Dedicated To Out June 14th

The hype is now theirs to own”- The Forty Five

VEPS are leaning hard into a very rough and ready DIY aesthetic, and I am absolutely here for it” – Far Out Magazine

“The band was born out of friendship, with their playfully subversive songwriting fusing alt-pop with indie rock elements” – Clash Magazine

Rising Norwegian alt-indie pop quartet Veps have released ‘Break & Entry,’ the third offering from their forthcoming new album Dedicated To. The album comes out via Miktam Records/Universal Music on June 14th.

The album’s opening track, ‘Break & Entry’ sees the band dial back from their usual raucous, garage tinged tones for a beautifully emotional piano driven ballad. Produced by Marcus Forsgren and mixed by Matias Tellez (Girl In Red, Maisie Peters), the track breaks new territory for the quartet as they continue to grow as one of the most exciting young bands in Europe.  “‘Break & Entry’ was written with a lot of inspiration taken from relationships between both lovers and friends,” the band said of the single. “It’s about the empty feeling you get after giving everything you have to someone, and hoping to receive something back that never comes.” Listen to ‘Break & Entry’ HERE.

Veps deliver another collection of indie pop bangers on second album Dedicated To. Finding a sound with a new sense of maturity and freedom, the band haven’t strayed far from their raw, DIY ethics on the LP. Opening with the beautiful, piano driven track ‘Break & Entry’, the album includes raucous new single ‘Greetings From Peru,’ the emotionally vibe filled ‘Say What?,’ the jagged, dark synth popper ‘For Thirsty Dogs’ and future live favourite ‘So Speak’.

Formed when the girls were 14 years old, Veps, now 20 years old, have already achieved more than they could have imagined at that age. Releasing their debut EP Open The Door to acclaim in 2021, the band followed with their beautifully frantic debut full length Oslo Park in 2022. Already ticking off a plethora of international festivals including The Great Escape, Reeperbahn and Stag & Dagger, as well as Norway’s biggest festival Øyafestival, Veps completed their debut UK headline tour in spring 2022, culminating with a headline date at Sebright Arms in London.

Now signed to new label Miktam Records/Universal Music and with a craft of song writing well beyond their tender years, Veps, with their seamless blend of 90s indie aesthetic with classic pop hooks, are ready to take 2024 by storm.

Veps are Helena Mariero Olasveengen (keys/vocals), June K. Urholt (bass), Laura Dodson (guitar/vocals) & Maja B. Berge (drums)

Pre-Save All For Something Debut LP HERE

UK May Headline Tour Announced
Includes Date At London’s Koko On May 30th

Tiny Habits – the young, fast-rising harmony trio composed of singer-songwriters Maya Rae, Cinya Khan, and Judah Mayowa – release their highly anticipated single and video ‘Wishes’ today. They have also announced their debut album, All For Something, out May 24th via Mom+Pop.

Written collectively and individually by all three bandmates, the album’s twelve tracks take on themes of sensitivity, insecurity, nostalgia, love and friendship. The trio has built up a loyal following of fans and friends including fellow artists Kacey Musgraves, Noah Kahan, Gracie Abrams, Phoebe Bridgers, Elton John, and the late great David Crosby. Produced by Tony Berg and Will Maclellan (Boygenius, Phoebe Bridgers), All for Something radiates with the band’s trademark angelic harmonies atop a richly-layered musical backdrop.

Pre-save All For Something HERE, and listen to ‘Wishes’ – what the group calls “our most personal song to date” HERE.

With its painfully honest lyrics, ‘Wishes’ shares Tiny Habits’ innermost vulnerabilities, opening up about everything from family dynamics and body image to anxiety and people-pleasing. Cinya, Maya, and Judah each contributed their own verse to the track in the hopes that their shared thoughts and feelings might help others feel not quite so alone.

Cinya writes “I came to the realisation that my experience, while unique to me, was one shared by so many others.” Maya adds, “Writing my own verse to this already heart wrenching, emotional, and vulnerable song felt so cathartic and honestly, just so healing.” And Judah shares “This song was something my physical and spiritual being needed. It became such a crucial turning point in my songwriting. I only want to share honest art and never shy away from vulnerability.”

Watch the ‘Wishes’ video HERE and read full statements about the song from each band member below.

Tiny Habits were formed in Boston in 2022 while the band were still students at the Berklee College of Music. They soon began gaining recognition for the harmony-focused song covers recorded in their dorm stairwell and posted to millions of listeners on TikTok. They released their first EP of original songs Tiny Things in April 2023 and soon earned a spot opening for Gracie Abrams on her North American tour. Later that year they hit the road again supporting Noah Kahan in Europe.

They have performed with Lizzy McAlpine on her Tiny Desk appearance, harmonised with Kacey Musgraves and Laufey among many others, and were recently profiled in The New Yorker which touted them “The Prodigies of Harmonies”. The band just wrapped their first-ever headlining North American tour which continues across Europe in May before making their Lollapalooza debut this summer.

Following a run of UK dates with Noah Kahan last year & a sold-out date at London’s XOYO, Tiny Habits return to the UK this May for a run of dates, culminating with a show at Koko in London on May 30th. Tickets are available HERE.

ACCLAIMED VOCALIST AND SONGWRITER HONORS A DEAR FRIEND AND MENTOR WITH THE SWINGING BLUES OF ‘SHOWMAN DAN’

FIRST ALBUM IN SIX YEARS

LET’S WALK, OUT JUNE 28TH ON THIRTY TIGERS

Plays LFJ Summer Series at Barbican Centre in London on July 21st

 Tickets available HERE

Renowned singer/songwriter Madeleine Peyroux has released a touching video for her new track ‘Showman Dan,’ which appears on her forthcoming album Let’s Walk (out June 28th on Thirty Tigers). Madeleine will also return to the UK for a very special show at London’s Barbican Centre on Sunday July 21st as part of the LFJ Summer Series.

Peyroux wrote the song in honor of her longtime friend and mentor Daniel William Fitzgerald, aka Showman Dan, who passed away in 2017. The video features performance footage, joyful home movies and personal photos honoring the charismatic and giving entertainer. The moving tribute shows Showman Dan through years performing all over and collaborating with up-and-coming musicians, including a young, yet-to-be-discovered Peyroux. Watch ‘Showman Dan’ HERE.

From 1975 until his death, Dan toured across the US and Europe as the leader of the Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz Band. They performed just about everywhere and anywhere, including the streets, public squares, the underground, small theatres, jazz clubs and even the private homes of royalty. Dan had a profound impact on Peyroux as an artist and as a human being, which cannot be overstated.

There’s so much living to discover in the telling of a life and so many ways to tell a life story, but here are just a few simple facts about Danny,” says Peyroux. “He was not ‘famous,’ though he has thousands of friends all over the world who still mourn him. And he was not a ‘musician,’ though he taught hundreds of people how to play music. He was not much of a father to his only son, though he is known as the godfather of buskers to many, including me. We met in Paris, France in 1989. He lived on a barge outside of the city, full of hats and coats, art pieces made from found objects, a pump organ, guitars, espresso pots, a dentist chair, lamps made from the bottom halves of mannequins, a portrait of Big Maybelle, photos of friends, and of course people: everyone was welcome to stay on the boat if they needed to. I was homeless and penniless and difficult and a child and arrogant and a budding alcoholic. He took me in. He gave me a job and a home and a second family. He sang and taught the music of Bessie Smith, Jimmy Reed, Fats Waller, Billie Holiday, and so many others.” She concludes, “Danny was my friend, my teacher, and oftentimes, my father. He would challenge the rebel in me with, ‘Who are you supposed to be?’ If he were to ask me now, I’d say, “I’m yours.””

Let’s Walk is Peyroux’s ninth album, and her first in six years. She co-wrote the entire album with longtime collaborator Jon Herington and the songs represent her most diverse, intimate and courageous work to date. Peyroux shares thoughtful and revealing views on personal and societal concerns, while seamlessly blending jazz, folk, gospel blues, Americana, chamber pop, Latin rhythms and a touch of light humor into the mix. The songs are interwoven around contemplative, observational and confessional narratives, making it the deepest and most substantive album in her catalog.

Peyroux offers hope through understanding and community by using one of our most unifying means, music.

First Single ‘Heartless’ Out Now

Summer UK Tour Announced
Plays London Eventim Apollo June 22nd

“Rateliff is an exuberant, un-guarded storyteller, sharing personal details

in conversation as openly as he does in his songs.”Rolling Stone

“He’s out to shake the sheets, sermonize and get downright elemental.”NPR Music

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats today announce their fourth full-length studio album South of Here, set for release June 28, 2024, via Stax—pre-order the album HERE. Ahead of the album, the band has shared the first single, ‘Heartless’ —listen/share HERE.

Produced by Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Bon Iver, Kevin Morby) and recorded at Sonic Ranch outside El Paso, Texas, South of Here reckons with a lifetime of pain and trauma and transforms it into a stirring, soul-baring rumination on love, loss, hope and resolve.

Following And It’s Still Alright, Rateliff’s beloved 2020 solo LP, and The Future, The Night Sweats’ acclaimed 2021 release, South of Here seamlessly blends both sides of his immense talent: emotionally potent, vivid storytelling and the rugged, R&B revivalism that has powered the band to world-wide acclaim over the past decade. Across 11 original tracks, all written by Rateliff & performed by The Night Sweats: Nathaniel Rateliff, Luke Mossman, Joseph Pope III, Mark Shusterman, Patrick Meese, Daniel Hardaway, Jeff Dazey, and Andreas Wild, the band, in peak form, plays with intuitive beauty while Cook’s production captures the group’s soulful fire with immediacy and purpose.

Brad was a great producer to write alongside. This album is a look into my own struggle with anxiety, insecurity and also stories of my life. He encouraged me to take responsibility for my own narrative in the songs and to write about what’s happening in my own life,” Rateliff notes. “These recordings were done together in a room with my closest friends. I hope these songs and stories give you an opportunity to better understand your own struggles, whatever they may be.

Over the course of his career, Nathaniel Rateliff has generated widespread acclaim from critics and musicians alike. Robert Plant recently placed him among the next generation of greats. “He is one of these guys that will just carry the torch. Beautiful songwriting, beautiful singing, great delivery and he is a magnificent guy to go with it.”

Born from the rock clubs in and around Denver, CO., Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats have released three LPs, two EPs, and a live album. Since their 2015 self-titled breakthrough album, the band has established themselves as generational talents through their ecstatic and dynamic live performances and a growing catalog of essential studio recordings. South of Here is another mighty leap forward. Bound by the struggle for identity and the search for belonging, it reverberates with the understanding that we’re all in this beautiful mess together.
