Impacting 16th August on BMG

UK Dates with Lauren Alaina This July

Following a sold-out headline show at The Lexington, two phenomenal Country2Country shows at London’s O2 Arena and the release of her debut EP earlier this year, rising artist Twinnie has revealed her new single ‘Social Babies’ impacting August 16th on BMG. The track is taken from her debut album, set for release in early 2020 and has been added as a New To 2 featured record on BBC Radio 2.

Produced by Pete Hammerton (Little Mix, One Direction, Britney Spears) and written about the current social world of people living through social media and spending too much time on their phones, ‘Social Babies’ is another catchy country-pop gem from Twinnie. Speaking of the track Twinnie said I wrote this song from the perspective of my friends and family about me. We live in this social media age which is very different to the one I grew up in. It can be a dangerous place.” She continues “There is pressure to look a certain way, act a certain way and portray “a life of riley” when sometimes it’s not a true representation. I think we can all be victims of this online culture. I certainly experience it, from the effects on my relationships to my self esteem.”

Listen to ‘Social Babies’ HERE

Named by Rolling Stone as one of the stand-out acts at the 2018 Country2Country festival and in Billboard’s Hotly Tipped ‘Ones To Watch For 2019, Twinnie was always destined to be a performer. Spending her formative years in Yorkshire singing, writing, acting and travelling to her beloved Nashville to soak up the knowledge and learn the craft she is definitely one not to be missed in 2019.

Twinnie heads out on a run of UK dates with Lauren Alaina this July and will play Nashville Meets Country Festival in London on July 27th, as well as The Long Road Festival and Blackpool Winter Gardens Festival in September. Tickets for all shows available HERE

Single ‘Calm Down’ Out Now

Lyric Video for ‘Can’t Stop You’ Out Now

Beloved singer-songwriter, Pete Yorn, announces Caretakers, his first solo album in three years and his most spontaneous collection to date out August 9th via his new label Shelly Music. Produced with Jackson Phillips of the celebrated indie rock band Day Wave, the album finds Yorn trusting his gut and working from instinct more than ever before. Alongside the announcement, Pete has also released the mesmerising single ‘Calm Down’ with companion track ‘Can’t Stop You’. Premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats1 radio show, ‘Calm Down’ combines Pete’s soft vocal tones with beautiful synths perfectly.

Listen/watch ‘Calm Down’ and ‘Can’t Stop You’ HERE

“These songs are designed to grow with you,” explains Yorn. “They’re all anchored in particular moments, but they blast off from there, so what they mean to you on any given day might evolve. They’re built to have that flexibility.”

Yorn is equally indebted to Bruce Springsteen’s blue-collar introspection as Lou Reed’s deadpan stream-of-consciousness. He first broke out in 2001 with his extraordinary Columbia Records debut, ‘Musicforthemorningafter’, which was hailed by NPR as one of the year’s finest and Rolling Stone praised it as “atmospheric, gently lit by sunlight and regret.” In the decades that followed, Yorn solidified his status as a songwriters’ songwriter, releasing five more solo albums and collaborating in the studio with everyone from Frank Black and Peter Buck to Liz Phair and Scarlett Johansson (Yorn and Johansson’s joint 2009 release, ‘Break Up,’ went Platinum in France). Yorn has performed on a plethora of TV shows including Letterman, Fallon, Kimmel, Ellen and more; as well as sharing the stage on tours with artists as varied as R.E.M., Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, Foo Fighters and The Dixie Chicks, and festival slots from Coachella and Bonnaroo to Glastonbury and Austin City Limits.

Caretakers Track List

  1. Calm Down
  2. I Wanna Be The One
  3. Can’t Stop You
  4. Idols (We don’t ever have to say goodbye)
  5. Do You Want To Love Again

Everything Hits At Once: The Best of Spoon

out July 26th on Matador Records

North American Tour with Beck and Cage The Elephant Begins July 11th

Praise For ‘Hot Thoughts’

They have nothing to prove, but you wouldn’t know that from the 10 songs here: Hot Thoughts is loaded with tunes, invention and adventure’ The Guardian 5*

‘Hot Thoughts finds Spoon at the peak of their considerable powers, their ninth album effortlessly unfolding and revealing its mysteries as they cement their place in the firmament of undeniably great rock bands.’Uncut 8/10

‘Even at their most traditional, the Austin band subvert expectations.’ Sunday Times Culture

‘Spoon are a band who are impossible to second-guess, and one deserving of much more attention.’ –  Q 4*

Spoon offer a pretty good portrait of the indie band in middle age; more accomplished and less earnest than in youth but still with the invention, quirkiness and rebelliousness that made students relate to them in the first place.’ – The Times 4*

Austin’s most esteemed rock ambassadors, Spoon, today unleash the band’s first new song since 2017’s acclaimed Hot Thoughts.  No Bullets Spent” showcases Spoon in full creative forward momentum, with its staccato rhythms and spooky film-noir guitar.  The inimitable vocals of magnetic frontman Britt Daniel kicking off at the first note, Spoon’s signature is stamped on the track immediately while another level is achieved in Daniels’ seemingly infinite hot streak as a songwriter.  Blending with the percussion wizardry of Spoon co-founder Jim Eno, the song is propelled from the doors of his own Public Hi Fi studio in Austin, TX and is produced by Mark Rankin.  Alex Fischel (keyboard) and Gerardo Larios (guitar) add their own dimension to the band whose recent recording sessions point to, perhaps, a forthcoming new album.

Listen to ‘No Bullets Spent’ HERE

“No Bullets Spent” joins classics from the Spoon catalog on Everything Hits at Once: The Best of Spoon, the greatest hits compilation coming out July 26th on Matador Records.

“No Bullets Spent” will also be available as a limited edition 7”, with the A Series of Sneaks era rarity “Shake It Off” on the B-side.  Limited to a small pressing worldwide, the 7” will be sold exclusively via the Matador and Spoon webstores and on tour with the band this summer.  The album’s tracklist (complaints about what songs are missing can be directed to the Twitter ether) and Spoon’s full list of summer tour dates can be found below the physical and digital artwork, and the Rob Sheffield-penned bio.

How many rock bands from the past 25 years could get away with a greatest-hits album? Spoon stand alone, with a career-spanning retrospective culled from all over their unique songbook. It’s a flawless compilation of their best-known, best-loved tunes, yet it’s still full of surprises—the only thing you could expect from a band that’s spent their whole career taking people by surprise.

“The idea of doing a best-of came to us a couple times,” Britt Daniel says. “First I wasn’t sure how I felt about it but at some point I remembered that when I got my first Cure record it was Standing on a Beach. When I got my first New Order record, it was Substance. That was how I met those bands, and I moved backwards from there but I still listen to those comps. I love a greatest hits LP when it’s done well. It can be a thing unto itself.”

If you were the betting type in 1996, and you were taking odds on which bands would still be on top of their game in 2019—still thriving, creating, evolving, sitting on top of a catalog so rich it could produce a compilation like this—it’s safe to say you could have bought a house betting a quarter on Spoon. They did not seem the likeliest band to make history. Yet they’ve achieved this by refusing to concede a thing to fashion, refusing to pander, declining to repeat themselves, resisting the impulse to play it safe. When they dropped Kill the Moonlight in 2002, it already seemed bizarre this underdog band had turned out to be so freakishly prolific and creative. But Spoon were just getting started. They have kept going their own way, moving past their original blueprint and building something new one album at a time.

When you hear Spoon has a greatest-hits record, you instantly think of your pet favorites. Every fan would assemble a totally different lineup—that’s the beauty of it. They’ve built the kind of ridiculously vast catalog where people love to argue for hours over their favorite highlights. Are you a Girls Can Tell diehard or a Transference cultist? Do you prefer Gimme Fiction or Ga Ga Ga Ga GaHot ThoughtsThey Want My Soul?

Certain artists like Al Green, Blondie or Creedence spend years making individual albums that stand up as fully realized works of art—but they spawn a perfect greatest-hits record that makes its own statement. That’s the classic level Spoon are on here. So how did this complex and diverse string of albums boil down to one disc? “Honestly, it was a struggle,” Daniel says. “I was listening to the old records and jotting down the songs—if you wanna turn the volume up, that’s a good sign. The list really got whittled down, so these are the best. ‘I Summon You’ was never a huge song, wasn’t for the radio, but it had to be on there. It’s one of the best things we’ve done. I wanted to represent Transference, even though it’s not really a ‘hit’ type of album—‘Got Nuffin’ was the closest thing. It did get to a point where I started feeling like, ‘We gotta represent this album in some way, we’ve gotta represent this change in some way.’ ‘Everything Hits at Once’ was a turning point for us—a minimal new wave soul type of rock song.’”

That’s part of what makes this a classic greatest-hits album—we will keep arguing over the selections for years to come. “It’s a small collection trying to cover a lot of years, but I hope it does what The Singles record by the Pretenders or Hot Rocks did for me—cover a lot of ground and then if you want to find out more, you can find out more.” It’s a conversation starter, like any great group’s best-of should be.  But it’s also a map to the work of a band that’s still full of surprises—and more yet to come.

Tracklisting:

  1. I Turn My Camera On
  2. Do You

Y Not & Tramlines Festival This Summer
‘Coup De Grace’ Out Now

Following the release of his acclaimed top 10 album ‘Coup De Grace’ and a massive sell-out UK tour last year, amidst playing a string of UK and European festivals this summer, Miles Kane today releases his latest single, ‘Can You See Me Now’ via AWAL.

Watch the video for ‘Can You See Me Now’ HERE

With an infectiously fuzzy guitar riff, Beatles-esque harmonies and Miles’ signature sassy vocals, ‘Can You See Me Now’ is an immediate indie-rock smash. The video, directed by James Kelly (who also directed Miles’ video for ‘LA Five Four (309)’), was shot whilst Miles was on tour in France and Italy in May and sees Miles swaggering in his comfort zone, on the stage. Speaking of the track Miles said, “This is a song about reaching a point in your life when you feel comfortable in yourself and you’re not afraid to shout about it.”

After a huge headline date at Glasgow’s SWG3, Miles and his band play a host of shows and festivals this summer including slots at Isle of Wight Festival, Rock Werchter, Tramlines, Neighbourhood Festival, Y Not Festival, Kendal Calling and headlining Skeleton Coast Festival, as well as supporting Paul Weller at Cardiff Castle.

Congratulations to Neil Hannon who’s magnificent new Divine Comedy album ‘Office Politics’ has garnered nothing but 4* reviews. Lovely to see him on BBC Breakfast this morning. And even lovelier to see ‘Office Politics’ sitting top 5 in the midweek album charts.

Another round of applause to Elvis Costello, not just cause his beloved Liverpool FC won the Champions League, but because he was awarded an OBE on the weekend in the Queen’s honors list.

A big week for that other Queen, as Madonna’s acclaimed new album ‘Madame X’ is out this Friday. She guests on Graham Norton that night too. Can’t wait for her 15 night run at London’s Palladium early 2020.

Out September 20th New Track ‘The Way I Feel’ Out Now

After months of speculation, Keane, one of Britain’s most beloved bands are back with a brand new album out September 20th on Island Records and featuring the powerful first single ‘The Way I Feel’. Watch the video HERE.

Written by Keane and produced by David Kosten and the band themselves, ‘Cause and Effect’ features 11 new songs recorded in London and Sussex.

Keane have also announced a major UK tour this autumn including two nights at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall. The band will play a series of festivals this summer including BST in Hyde Park on July 14th.

‘Cause and Effect’ is Keane’s 5th studio album. Their 4 previous albums have all entered the UK charts at number 1 and accumulated sales of over 13m worldwide and 2.6 billion streams.

The birth of this new album came as something of a surprise even to the band. Singer Tom Chaplin had released two successful solo albums but missed his old sparring partner Tim Rice-Oxley. “I found myself wondering how I had come to let this very enigmatic and important relationship in my life drift,” Tom says.

Meanwhile Tim found his life falling apart and from the ashes had written an album’s worth of incredibly personal songs fuelled by humour as well as pain. When Tom, bassist Jesse Quin and drummer Richard Hughes heard the songs, they were immediately drawn to them both sonically and lyrically.

“Hopes and Fears was a break-up album too, but it was about a break-up when I was 19,” Tim explains. “It’s a bit different when you’re older and you’ve got kids – your whole little world shifts on its axis.”

Tickets for Keane’s tour go on sale on Friday 14th June
They play the following dates:

September
Tues 24th BIRMINGHAM, Symphony Hall
Wed 25th LEICESTER, De Montfort Hall
Thu 26th MANCHESTER, Apollo
Sat 28th LONDON, Royal Albert Hall
Sun 29th LONDON, Royal Albert Hall

October
Tues 1st NEWCASTLE, City Hall
Wed 2nd EDINBURGH, Usher Hall
Fri 4th NOTTINGHAM, Royal Concert Hall
Sat 5th BRIGHTON, Brighton Centre
Mon 7th BELFAST, Waterfront
Tues 8th  DUBLIN, Olympia

The video for ‘The Way I Feel’ was directed by Kevin Godley, who previously directed the video for the band’s hit single ‘Is It Any Wonder’ and Tom’s solo release ‘Still Waiting’.

‘The Way I Feel’, like the other ten tracks on ‘Cause and Effect’, is an emotional and remarkable slice of life, and reminiscent of the very best of Keane. It’s an exciting period for one of the country’s best bands and a very welcome return.

As Tim Rice-Oxley says, “We’re not some heritage act. We’ve got a lot of great music in us.” ‘Cause and Effect’ is just that.

Huge Run of Festivals This Summer

One of the UK’s finest rising bands, The Snuts, today release their explosive new single ‘All Your Friends’ on Parlophone Records. Choosing to work with Inflo (Karen O / Danger Mouse, Michael Kiwanuka, Little Simz) the track throws the rulebook out the window creating a fresh, yet authentic first taste of the West Lothian quartet’s debut album, which the band are currently recording.

Driven by a huge slice of rock ‘n roll swagger, fused with a vintage hip-hop backbeat, ‘All Your Friends’ possesses an irresistibly catchy raw edge and a massive chorus. The video, directed by Ronan Corrigan and Hope Kemp, has both the humour and charm of long gone classics as the band are literally caught up in a shopping channel TV advert fuelled by their much loved Buckfast.

Speaking of the track Jack Cochrane explains “Reflected in the lyrics and the artwork ‘All Your Friends’ is new twist on a familiar social stigma around the drug epidemic that nobody seems to want to talk about”. He continues “keeping in tune with the passionate tones of The Snuts this is a rawer, more direct addition to the catalogue.”

Already garnering a massive following in Scotland and across the UK and with support from the likes of BBC 6 Music, Radio 1, Clash and Dork Magazine, The Snuts are set for a massive 2019 with new music, touring and a fine selection of festivals.

The Snuts, famed for their kinetic live shows, will support Lewis Capaldi on his November UK dates and play a host of summer festivals including Isle of Wight Festival, Mad Cool, Reading & Leeds Festival, Y Not Festival and a main stage, homecoming performance at TRNSMT. The band will also hit the road on a run of UK headline shows this autumn.
