New Album ‘Once Upon A Mind’ Out October 25th

First Single ‘Cold’ Out Now

After flirting with electronica on his last album, James Blunt returns to what he does best on new album ‘Once Upon A Mind’, writing classic songs that touch both the heart and the head. The album’s first taste arrives in the shape of the breezy, ‘Cold’, an effervescent modern spin on love.

Listen to ‘Cold’ HERE

There’s a freshness that resonates throughout the eleven new songs that make up ‘Once Upon A Mind’, his 6th album, released October 25th on Atlantic Records. A UK tour for early 2020 will be announced shortly.

On the new album, James has worked with a variety of producers including Steve Robson, Jimmy Hogarth and TMS. “Back To Bedlam was similar in that I had been writing those songs for a while about my life experiences at that time, and they came together on my debut.  And every song on this album represents something that I’m currently going through or have recently experienced. It’s a very personal record, and I’m proud I can share it.”

James Blunt released that classic first album, ‘Back To Bedlam’, in the autumn of 2004 and soon after the single ‘You’re Beautiful’ became a global smash hit. He has sold over 23 million albums and has showcased his wit and charm more recently with his always engaging twitter account.

Plays London’s Bluesfest October 27th

‘Kicks’ Out Now

“Rickie Lee Jones remains pleasingly unpredictable.” – Mojo

“She sounds more effortlessly cool than ever.”Times

“She makes (these songs) her own…on a record full of sound choices.”Sun SFTW

Following a string of stellar US shows this Summer, Rickie Lee Jones announces she will be returning to the UK for a handful of dates in October, which will include a headline appearance at London’s Bluesfest on October 27th. ‘Kicks’, Rickie’s latest collection of songs (track listing below) is out now on her own label, OSOD through Thirty Tigers.

Following a US tour, Rickie Lee Jones will arrive in the UK in October. Tickets on sale now.

October

Sun 27th                                 LONDON, Bluesfest

Mon 28th                               MANCHESTER, RNCM

Wed 30th                               BRISTOL, St. George’s

Rickie Lee Jones released her critically acclaimed new album ‘Kicks’ earlier this year, the follow up to her equally applauded ‘The Other Side of Desire’. Produced by Rickie Lee Jones with her band-mate, vibraphonist Mike Dillion, ‘Kicks’ features 10 songs of a highly infectious nature. The album spans two decades (50s-70s) of pop, rock and jazz, presenting her unique and sophisticated interpretations of songs that were pivotal to her musical journey.

Check out a fantastic live clip of ‘Nagasaki,’ the second single from ‘Kicks’.  For her version of the song, which was first performed by the Ipana Troubadours in 1928 and was most famously recorded by the Benny Goodman Quartet in 1952, Rickie Lee Jones gives the track a traditional jazz offering of tight three-part harmonies.

The winner of two Grammy awards (‘Best New Artist’ in 1979 for her self-titled debut and ‘Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album’ for ‘It’s Like This’ in 2000), Rickie is the most iconic American female singer-songwriter of her time, a woman who outlasted all her adversaries–including youth and self-destruction. Before Rickie Lee Jones, the genre of singer

songwriter was derived entirely from the folk singers of the 50’s and 60’s.  She brought jazz to the rock stage, a teenaged recklessness and a flair for drama.

Today’s announcement comes as part of another exciting instalment of the band’s anniversary celebrations which first saw the reissue of their first four classic albums on 180g vinyl, mastered at half speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road and housed in their original iconic die cut sleeves designed by the legendary Peter Saville, followed by the huge world tour. The band, Andy McCluskey, Paul Humphreys, Martin Cooper and Stuart Kershaw will be starting in October in Portugal, stretching through to February 2020 finishing in Paris.

To coincide with the band’s Liverpool show, there will be upcoming exhibitions happening at the British Music Experience and Museum Of Liverpool to celebrate the band’s impressive legacy.

Lead Track ‘Thinking of You’ Out Now

Simply Red Play Radio 2 Hyde Park Show September 15th

Simply Red are back with ‘Blue Eyed Soul’, a ten track masterclass in funky, brassy soul music and emotionally charged ballads, available to pre-order now. It’s their first new studio album in four years and the 12th in their stellar career.

Listen to ‘Thinking of You’ HERE

Lead track ‘Thinking of You’, which is available to download/stream now, will remind everyone why they first fell in love with the band, a horn fuelled swaggering tune that belongs on the dance floor featuring main man lead singer Mick Hucknall at his very best.

Recorded in London at British Grove Studios, all ten tracks were written by Mick Hucknall and produced by long time collaborator Andy Wright.

He’s got blue eyes and a soulful voice, and it’s Hucknall’s remarkable voice that takes centre stage on this record. “I wanted to push my voice a little harder, challenge it a little bit, give myself something to really sing to.”

The results are simply sensational. Recorded as live, with few overdubs,

‘Blue Eyed Soul’ drew on inspiration from classic funk and soul: Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland and Tower of Power.

Simply Red have over a billion hits on YouTube, and have sold over 60 million albums since forming over thirty years ago. Holding back the years indeed.

“At this stage of my career, I could do one of those dark reflective albums looking back on my life and all that kind of stuff that people tend to do at a certain age,” Mick Hucknall admits. “But I thought sod that! I wanted to make something punchy. I want to have a good time.”

And that’s exactly what you get throughout ‘Blue Eyed Soul’, satisfaction guaranteed.

Blue Eyed Soul Tracklisting:

  1. Thinking of You
  2. Sweet Child
  3. Complete Love
  4. Take a Good Look
  5. Ring That Bell
  6. BadBootz
  7. Don’t Do Down
  8. Riding on a Train
  9. Chula
  10. Tonight

17 Date UK Tour this Winter

Jack Savoretti today releases his new single ‘Greatest Mistake’ (impacting 12th August), taken from his UK Number 1 album ‘Singing To Strangers’. The release follows the news that ‘Singing To Strangers’ has gone GOLD, making it Jack’s third consecutive  UK gold album!  This year has seen Jack playing a string of sell out UK and European headline shows – including a UK Arena tour – followed by massive summer festival appearances.

Mixed by Ash Howes and produced by Cam Blackwood, the new take on ‘Greatest Mistake’ combines a soaring string section with Jack’s soothing tones to create a timeless sound. On the emotional lyrics of the single Jack commented, “I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life and I am bound to make many more…but the greatest mistake I’ve made and don’t want to make anymore is not letting the people I love know how much I love them.”
