THE LONG-AWAITED VOL 7 OF HER CELEBRATED LU’S JUKEBOX THEMED LIVE PERFORMANCE SERIES – OUT DECEMBER 6TH

WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS’ – LISTEN HERE

Three-time Grammy Award winning artist Lucinda Williams has announced the December 6th release of Lucinda Williams Sings The Beatles From Abbey Road. Recorded at The Beatles legendary studio in London, the new collection  serves as Vol. 7 of her celebrated Lu’s Jukebox series and is the first new volume in almost four years.

Listen to Williams’ entrancing version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” HERE.

Lucinda Williams Sings The Beatles From Abbey Road features 12 Beatles songs that include classic hits such as “Can’t Buy Me Love”, “With A Little Help From My Friends” and “Something”. Williams and her band also take on beloved deeper tracks such as “I’m So Tired”, “I’ve Got A Feeling and “Yer Blues”.  Being raised on the blues in the South, the latter is a song Williams was clearly meant to sing.  See full track listing below.

While many great artists have recorded in the hallowed Abbey Road Studios, as it turns out, Williams is the first major artist to actually record Beatles’ songs there aside from the Fab Four themselves.

As an acclaimed, award-winning singer/songwriter for more than four decades, Williams’ music has been highly influential and covered by a multitude of artists. Williams is also an extraordinary interpreter who, like all great interpreters, has the ability to inhabit a song and make it her own. She does just that throughout this selection of Beatles tracks, as she has done on each Lu’s Jukebox volume.

Lu’s Jukebox originally began during the pandemic in 2020 as a way to help independent music when there were no live performances. Scheduled as a six-episode series of mostly full-band, HD video performances in-studio, the series featured themed sets of cover songs curated by Williams and streamed for a fee with proceeds going to designated venues. The series became a fan favorite and each have been released on vinyl, CD and via streaming services.

The original six in Lu’s Jukebox are ,Vol 1 – Runnin’ Down A Dream (A Tribute To Tom Petty), Vol 2 – Southern Soul: From Memphis To Muscle Shoals & More, Vol 3 – Bob’s Back Pages: A Night Of Bob Dylan Songs, Vol 4 – Funny How Time Slips Away: A Night Of 60’s Country Classics. Vol 5 – Lucinda Williams – Have Yourself A Rockin’ Little Christmas, Vol 6 – It’s Only Rock And Roll: A Tribute To The Rolling Stones

Lucinda Williams Sings The Beatles From Abbey Road is an inspirational  example of an artist who, at 71 years old and following a stroke in 2020, continues to write, perform and find new ways to fuel her creative fire that continues to burn as brightly as ever.

Listen To “Pulga” HERE

Todos Nacen Gritando,’ The New Spanish-Language Version Of Her Wildly Acclaimed Album ‘All Born Screaming,’ Will Be Released November 15th

Plays Live On The Graham Norton Show Friday October 18th

‘’The unmasking of a great American songwriter’ – 5* Album Of The Week Guardian

“Bowie soared highest when being his freaky little self. The same can be said of Clark, whose songs come alight when icy beauty and danger go for a dance—a staggering return.” – 9/10 Clash

“Further proves Annie Clark to be a brilliant and multifaceted musical force” – 4* MOJO

“An album of stunning power, menace and beauty.”  – 4* The I

“Annie Clark has made her most generous and open statement yet.” – 4* NME

“Her best music yet” – 4* The Times

‘Annie Clark’s self-produced seventh album is smart, cohesive and refreshingly tight.’ – 4* The Independent

So states St. Vincent with fiery resolve on “Pulga,” the second single to preview the upcoming album ‘Todos Nacen Gritando.’ Featuring St. Vincent on vocals and all instruments except drums and bass—handled respectively by Dave Grohl and Justin Meldal-Johnsen—“Pulga” is raw desire made manifest atop a foundation of thundering grooves and searing guitar figures.

In a completely unexpected move, St. Vincent translated her entire ‘All Born Screaming’ album into Spanish. The Spanish language album ‘Todos Nacen Gritando’ will be released November 15 via Total Pleasure Records in partnership with Virgin Music Group.

The echoes of tens of thousands of fans chanting her lyrics across Latin America and Spain moved Annie Clark to pay tribute to her Spanish-speaking fans and the Spanish language she loves so much. “It was really inspiring,” she says, recalling experiences like the crowd reaction to her set at Primavera Sound 2023. “At the end, I asked myself, ‘If they’re able to sing in a second or third language, why can’t I do the same thing?”

That is how ‘Todos Nacen Gritando’ was born. Clark herself, who has recently honed her Spanish language skills, defines this meticulous reinterpretation as one of the biggest challenges of her musical career: “It’s been a much more complicated process than anything I’ve done before.

No small statement for an artist with a 17 year music career and 3 Grammy awards including “Best Rock Song” in 2019 and “Best Alternative Music Album” in 2015 and 2022. She has co-produced previous St. Vincent albums with Jack Antonoff and collaborated with artists from Taylor Swift to David Byrne. St. Vincent fronted Nirvana for their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, was selected by Paul McCartney to contribute to his ‘III-Imagined‘ album and invited to play live with Metallica.

What surprises me is that music is not separated from life in Latin America. In the United States everything is commercialised, music is a commodity, an accessory. But in Latin America music is life itself, and you can feel that.” This reflection by Clark makes even more sense when life, death, loss and love were the main themes of the album ‘All Born Screaming, lauded by critics for its emotional and musical rawness.

The stark nature of the album —her first fully self-produced record— found in Spanish a way to enhance its visceral original vocal performances. “There are things that I sing in Spanish that maybe I would feel self-conscious singing in English because they feel so sincere… it was a fascinating experience to find how to convey the feeling, but also discover a new way through words,” she explains.

To ensure both emotional and linguistic accuracy, St. Vincent enlisted the translation skills of her best friend and occasional collaborator, Alan del Río Ortiz, “Alan has been my friend since we were 15, we grew up together. He would translate the songs and then we would go over them.”   Ortiz played a crucial role in retaining the passion and sentiment of the original material while transposing it all into another language. “Sometimes he would tell me, ‘That’s not a Spanish expression, you could say this or that.’ So we would look for other ways of saying things.”

This tribute to her Spanish-speaking fans is, in a sense, a natural outcome for Clark, who spent much of her early life in Texas. Growing up with Almodovar’s films as a child, confronting the revelatory darkness of Goya’s paintings at the Prado Museum in Madrid, “tasting the best food in life” in Mexico City, dawning on New Year’s Day dancing cumbias on the beaches of Merida, or getting lost among the streets of Buenos Aires, are memories that have become fixed in her head and heart, substantial in weaving her unique relationship with Spain and Latin America.

Latin American music has also been a vital part of this relationship. “I’m a big fan of Bomba Estéreo and Calle 13. I also love Rosalía and Arca. Brazilian music too, like Caetano Veloso. It’s the best…it’s different from how it feels in the United States. It’s joyful, a real part of life,” Clark says.

St. Vincent is currently on tour in the U.S.  and will continue the “All Born Screaming” tour with an additional round of European dates in October. Tickets are available for purchase HERE. For the full itinerary, please see below and visit https://ilovestvincent.com/

Video For Single ‘Better, I Swear’ Out Now
Watch HERE // Listen HERE

Following a summer of live dates across Europe & the UK, one of Belgium’s most exciting new exports Bluai have announced they will release their enchanting debut album Save It For Later in the UK on November 8th. Alongside the announcement comes the heartwarming video for new single ‘Better, I Swear’.

A dialogue between loved ones, ‘Better, I Swear’ tells a story of dealing with feelings of disappointment and regret. Collaborating with actress, presenter and singer of acclaimed Belgian indie-pop band Intergalactic Lovers Lara Chedraoui, the track is an infectiously delicate indie-folk bop. “Cath started writing the lyrics during a time we all felt like a let down to the people closest to us,” the band say of the track. “We never expected our music would become the main focus of our lives instead of family and friends. Working with Lara was the first time we let someone else in on the process of writing lyrics, which turned it into a dialogue between two perspectives.”

The video, directed by Ante Pask, intertwines two story lines. A young skater is trying to land a trick on her own on a treadmill, stuck in a never ending ratrace. She fails time after time until she finally manages to land the trick with support of her peers. Meanwhile we see the band and guest vocalist Lara going through the different highs and lows of a friendship or relationship. “The video brought together a group of female skaters of all ages and backgrounds,” the band remark. “They created a wholesome community supporting each other on and off camera.” Watch the video for ‘Better, I Swear’ HERE & listen HERE.

Save It For Later is a record like a Polaroid picture. Belgian songwriter Catherine Smet captures the memories of her youth in lyrics that carry a perfume of Americana, country pop, and indie folk. The stories are set in her native Belgium, but close your eyes, and galloping horses on a ranch in Mississippi form the backdrop of BLUAI’s debut album.

Catherine Smet (vocals, guitar), Mo Govaerts (drums), and Caitlin Talbut (bass) joined forces with producer Willem Ardui (blackwave.) for Save It For Later. Mutual appreciation and love for Pinegrove and sad indie girls brought them on each other’s path. Their collaboration took an inspired turn when Ardui introduced them to Anneke D’Hollander’s American photo series. This visual influence shaped the cinematic character of their debut album, resulting in a unique blend of musical and visual storytelling.

BLUAI diversifies its sound by incorporating banjo and lap steel, with engineer Tobie Speleman being briefed to apply ‘Nashville tuning.’ This shift from indie rock to Americana broadens their musical horizons, transcending influences from Maggie Rogers to Alabama Shakes to The Japanese House.

Save It For Later serves as the soundtrack to a nostalgic autumnal youth film, it sounds as if Adrianne Lenker from Big Thief founded her own Boygenius under the direction of Lady Bird’s Greta Gerwig. With the maturing years behind them, BLUAI is cruising at full speed, driven by boundless ambition with no brakes in sight.

Out November 8th on Sony Classical

One Of The Fastest Selling Classical Artists Of 2023
& First Female Musician To Reach #1 On The Classical Artist Album Chart In 2023

First Track ‘Abendlied’ – out now

“She is much more than a gifted organist, choral conductor and social media sensation…
she’s a star on a mission”
The Sunday Times

“She had rightly become “the world’s most visible organist”New York Times

“Imaginative, open-minded and a brilliant musician, the organist and conductor Anna Lapwood is the dream ambassador for classical music.”Gramophone

After being crowned one of the fastest selling classical artists and the first female musician to reach number 1 on the Classical Artist Album Chart in 2023 with her stunning album Luna, organ sensation Anna Lapwood returns as conductor of the Pembroke College Girls’ Choir for a beautiful 6-track EP The Waiting Sky – out November 8th on Sony Classical. First track ‘Abendlied’ is out today – listen here.

Two songs – ‘Winter Time’ & ‘The Waiting Sky’ – both written collaboratively by the entire choir, demonstrate the choir & Anna’s fundamental belief in empowerment through composition. As Anna beautifully describes it; “One of the things I love most about working with the Girl Choristers at Pembroke is that they are constantly surprising me with what we’re capable of. Winter Time & The Waiting Sky were both written by the girl choristers as a group, with everyone chipping in and making suggestions. There have been so many points over the past couple of years where the choristers and I have been chatting and one of them will say ‘can you imagine us doing this 4 years ago’?! I think this EP is all about capturing that sense of achievement, progression, and joy that comes from making music together as a group, growing together and constantly breaking through our own perceptions of what we can achieve, whether that’s writing our own compositions, or singing music in 6-part harmony.”

The announcement comes in the midst of a wave of exciting activity as Anna prepares to travel to Berlin to accept ‘Solo Recording Instrument of the Year’ for Luna at The Opus Klassiks – Germany’s equivalent of Classic Brit Awards on October 13th. This comes on top of Anna’s recent impromptu organ lesson with Tom Cruise at the Top Gun: Maverick film screening at The Royal Albert Hall, where she resides for midnight rehearsals. Recent concerts include sold out performances with the London Symphony Orchestra, conductor Sir Antonio Pappano & pianist Yuja Wang, as well as guest appearances with both Aurora and Florence and The Machine.

Last year, Anna’s album Luna was received warmly, with The Sunday Times describing it as “illuminating and inspiring”, along with features on both BBC & Sky News Breakfast. As well as receiving the prestigious RPS Gamechanger Award at The Royal Philharmonic Society Awards, Anna put on a mesmerising, TikTok-trending display with her performance of Bach meets Faithless at the Ministry of Sound Classical concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

This December will see two special Christmas performances with the Choirs of Pembroke College at Snape Maltings Concert Hall (Dec 7th) and Smith Square Hall, London (Dec 9th). December 18th will then see Anna take part in a special festive evening at the Royal Albert Hall with national treasure Sandi Toksvig for an evening of fun.

Collaborating with musician and producer James Skelly, best known as the frontman of The Coral, Brooke’s debut album, Dancing At The Edge Of The World is the perfect opening statement, showing a tantalising first look at the artist she will become. Redolent of those first offerings from Michael Kiwanuka and Corinne Bailey Rae, it revels in lush, orchestral arrangements, irresistible rhythms and a voice that could have come right out of Motown.

Tipped by Rolling Stone UK as ‘One of 2023’s defining artists’ in their ‘Ones To Watch’ and in Dork Magazine’s ‘Hype List 2023’ and already garnering support from the likes of The Guardian, NME, Clash, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and Radio X, Brooke Combe continues to rise as one of the UK’s hottest talents.

Throughout the record, Brooke offers listeners a sense of closure but, with it, possibilities –  as though with the closing of one door, myriad others are opening to the sound of her voice. Dancing At The Edge Of The World is a resounding, indisputable opening salvo from Britain’s newest and brightest star.

November 1st – November 8th
Includes A Night At London’s Lower Third – Nov 6th

“Romantic and seductive.” – BBC Radio 6

“Loren Kramar is a complete work” – Clash

“Lush, biting, self-aware orchestral pop.” – Stereogum
“His Voice Can Stop You in Your Tracks” – New York Times
“Utterly whimsical, brilliant vibe” – NYLON
“Velvet-smooth vocals” – Interview

Fresh off the back of releasing his stunning debut album Glovemaker earlier this year via Secretly Canadian, the exquisite Loren Kramar announces plans to return to the UK and Europe for a run of headline shows in November.

Kicking things off in The Hague for the Netherlands’ Crossing Border Festival, Loren will then bring his captivating live show to the UK for dates in Brighton, Manchester and London, before rounding things off in Paris at Pitchfork Festival. Festival dates are on sale now, with the UK dates on sale this Wednesday, October 9th at 10.00am HERE. The shows come after a dazzling run earlier this year that saw him play at London’s The Grace & a special show at The Blue Basement: Third Man Records.

I forgot my portable garment steamer in London when I was playing a show there in June so it feels good to be able to come back and build a tour around that retrieval, ” explains Loren. “It should also be noted that those summer shows in London were among the most generous and rowdy I’ve ever played, so I’m ready to deepen my love with the city as well as meet the good folks of Brighton and Manchester.”

If the Chateau Marmont could sing. This would be it. Loren Kramar’s voice vibrates with the shameless hum of a room after a celebrity exits. Ecstatic aspiration. Doubt. Proximity. Desire. Debut album Glovemaker is about the skins we craft to be seen by the world, and Loren reminds us that we are all in drag. All exposed. No matter what gloves we slip on.

The album birthed tracks like the “lush, biting, opulent” (Stereogum) ‘Hollywood Blvd’ and the “velvet-smooth” (Interview) title track ‘I’m A Slut’ is an ambitious, self-assured anthem about pursuing passion despite any obstacles. The clip for the song may go down as indie’s most expensive video, filled with a trio of Birkins and choreography by Julia Crockett.

Kramar’s music is a testament to the sheer beauty of his voice, characterised by a warm, confident timbre reminiscent of Old Hollywood legends. With a penchant for grand, dramatic melodies, Kramar channels the likes of his former tourmate, Father John Misty and Lana Del Rey, seamlessly intertwining celebration and critique of the enigmatic world of fame, glamour, and artistry.

Born and bred in the heart of Los Angeles, Kramar’s upbringing immersed him in both the art and artifice of the entertainment industry. Reflecting on his journey, Kramar muses, “There’s almost a self-created fanfic that comes with imagining oneself as a star. It’s a coping mechanism against insecurity and shame… that I am enough, that I have value as a person outside of being an artist.”

With new music to come, and an extremely exciting 2025 on the horizon, November’s shows will surely be the last chance to see Loren’s incredible live show in such an intimate setting.

The Band’s Biggest Ever UK Headline Tour Announced
Feb/Mar 2025 Tour Includes Shows At London O2 Academy, Brixton – February 26th
& Liverpool Olympia – March 1st

First Track ‘We Made It’ – Out Now

Liverpool’s indie powerhouses Circa Waves are back with their spectacular new album Death & Love Pt.1 – out January 31st, 2025 via Lower Third/PIAS. First track, the supreme ‘We Made It’ is available today – listen here.

Circa Waves will return to the road in February & March next year, embarking on their biggest UK headline tour yet, playing to their ever expanding fanbase. Across 12 dates, they’ll play to thousands of fans across the UK, including a night at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on March 26th & a what will be a truly special final night hometown show at Liverpool’s Olympia March 1st. Tickets available here.

Both terrifying and liberating to write, Death & Love Pt.1 is an urgent, 9-track hit of cathartic guitar-pop, serving as a powerful coping mechanism to help process frontman Kieran Shudall’s near-death experience.

Back in early 2023, Kieran received a call from doctors to say that the main artery in his heart was severely blocked. Two days later, he was lying on an operating table watching a wire being inserted into his heart to fix it. What followed was the cancelling of a lot of shows, working out a lot of medication, and most crucially, now having to navigate a new way of life.

“I needed this record to process what I went through. A letter to tell myself I would stick around,” Kieran explains. “Most of all, I wanted to make a record for me, with music I love and hopefully music to make kids in their bedroom pick up a guitar and believe they can take on the fucking world.”

And the results are quite simply stunning. Self-produced by Kieran, and engineered by Matt Wiggins (Adele, Lana Del Rey, Glass Animals), the nine tracks that make up Death & Love Pt.1 ooze nostalgia, and hark back to the sounds and themes that made Shudall want to pick up a guitar in the very first place.

Tracks like the exploding album opener ‘American Dream’ lay the record’s hopeful foundations, with ‘Le Bateau’ – named after a Liverpool club – recalls euphoric, youthful nights out, and the laid back ‘Hold It Steady’ & ‘Blue Damselfly’ showcasing the album’s more emotional themes. ‘We Made It’ oozes with Shudall’s hope and optimism, and ‘Let’s Leave Together’ is a future hit-in-waiting, joining ‘Like You Did You Before’ in two stand out tracks that have infectious hooks, huge choruses running through their hearts and are set to blow the roof off venues on next year’s tour.

Circa Waves was formed in Liverpool in May 2013 by Kieran Shudall. After writing a batch of songs and putting some demos online, he recruited second guitarist Joe Falconer, bassist Sam Rourke, and drummer Sian Plummer (replaced by Colin Jones in 2015).

The band first gained a buzz and earned favourable comparisons to the Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, and the Vaccines before they hit the Top Ten with their debut, 2015’s Young Chasers on Virgin/EMI. Buoyed by singles like ‘T-Shirt Weather’ and ‘Stuck in My Teeth’, the album reached the Top Ten of the U.K. albums chart and paved the way for a series of well-attended live shows, including a sold-out date at London’s O2 .

Without shying away from their influences, the band matured, and albums like 2017’s Different Creatures, 2019’s What’s It Like Over There? showcase their knack for crafting their own distinctively infectious, post-punk anthems. In 2020, they reached number four on the U.K. albums chart with Sad Happy and returned in 2023 with Never Going Under.

Death & Love Pt.1 is the first instalment of a snapshot in time – a reflection on a moment of true terror, and the joy of coming through the other side. It’s a brave and remarkable next step for a band in the finest form of their career.

Debut Album It’s Nothing Out Now

November UK Tour Announced

Play London’s Village Underground – November 5th

In Store Performance & Signing @ Rough Trade East, London – Oct 1st

“‘It’s Nothing’ is one hell of a something, made by a band that truly are the real deal. Dolores Forever? Yes please.”

4* Dork Magazine

“Dolores Forever may have titled their album It’s Nothing, but make no mistake – this is something special.” 9/10 The Line Of Best Fit

Dolores Forever have perfected the art of careful ambiguity, a skilled combination of subtle humour and throwaway lines with serious musicianship, which results in relatable and always innovative music.” 8/10 Clash Magazine

One of the UK’s finest rising acts, Dolores Forever, have released their sublime debut album It’s Nothing. Alongside the release the band have also dropped the tongue-in-cheek video for their new single ‘Not Now Kids’.

The album opener, ‘Not Now Kids’ pokes fun at patronising politicians thinking they know better. “This was the last song we wrote for the album,” the band said of the single. “It’s a bit of a scathing look at the world and the people who are running it with impunity, the feeling of being told to shut up while watching your house burn. What can we say, we love an apocalyptic bop.

“Working across the visuals allowed me to play with the narrative of female friendship – which is not only a theme that runs through my personal work – but is prevalent throughout their lyricism and attitudes,” director Francesa Allen mentions on the video. “Our small all-female team, Katya Bourvis (choreography) and Carmen Pellon Brussosa (cinematography), helped bring the story to life.” Watch the video HERE.

After a huge summer of festivals across the UK and Europe, Dolores Forever are taking their captivating live show on a run of headline dates across the UK this November. Kicking off in Bristol on November 4th, the run will see Dolores Forever play five dates across the UK, including a date at London’s Village Underground on November 5th. Tickets available HERE

Tue 5th UK, London, Village Underground

Wed 6th UK, Manchester, The Deaf Institute (Music Hall)

Sat 9th UK, Glasgow, The Garage (Attic Bar)

Sun 10th UK, Leeds, Hyde Park Book Club

To celebrate the release of ‘It’s Nothing’, Dolores Forever will also play a special in-store performance and signing at London’s Rough Trade East on October 1st, entry with purchase via Dice only

At the heart of Dolores Forever there’s an infectiously playful, unapologetic feminist energy, and now, the London-based band are ready to release their debut album. It’s a “punchy indie-pop record about feminism, friendship and navigating a messed up world. It blows our minds that the music industry is obsessed with hearing from people who are just 21. As we’ve gotten into our thirties, we have so many more stories, and so much more to say.”

Julia, from Copenhagen, co-wrote the winning 2013 Eurovision entry for Denmark, Only Teardrops, while Hannah, from London, has written with Kylie and Stormzy.

Dolores Forever are building unstoppable momentum.

The Amazons are back! After a huge Top 5 record with 2022’s How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me?, the band return with their dark new single ‘Living A Lie’.

Produced by Pete Hutchings (Royal Blood, Gang Of Youths, Foals), tackling past frustrations and future anxieties, ‘Living A Lie’ signals the emergence of The Amazons’ brand new sound – still loaded with riffs and roaring with aggression, but packed with a whole new level of energy and grandiose, seeing frontman Matt Thomson delivering smart words with a newfound eloquence of phrase. This is The Amazons as you’ve never heard them before – with a soundscape fit for arenas. Listen to ‘Living A Lie’ here.

It marks the start of a new era which will see a host of exciting new activity over the coming months, into 2025.

Matt explains; “Living A Lie is an ode to staring at the ceiling in the early hours of the morning – when little fictions turn into hard truths in the stillness of the night. We were working on a very different sound before Living A Lie. This song articulated a tone and a feeling that spoke to our lives in a way we hadn’t been able to access previously. An anxiety about the future and a frustration with the past.”

‘Living A Lie’ starts a new chapter for the Reading 3-piece. With three huge Top 10 records and sold out shows across the globe under their belts, The Amazons are fired up and ready to go.

New Album EELS Out Today Via Bayonet

North American Tour Announced

Surf-rock riffs, oddball humor, and warped Americana storytelling define the Austin band”  — Pitchfork

Through great wordplay, delicious vocalizations and a gonzo theatricality, Being Dead are one of the coolest and freakiest acts around.” — Paste

One of the most chaotic trios in Texas.”  — The Line Of Best Fit

Being Dead — the Austin, TX-based project of multi-instrumentalists and best friends Falcon Bitch and Shmoofy — release their sublime new album EELS on Bayonet. Alongside the release the band also share the video for ‘Big Bovine.’ Watch the video HERE.

Originally written as a straight-ahead swing/country jam, the track slowly evolved into a droning, punkier final form — a testament to the way Falcon and Shmoofy’s collaboration works, pulling each other into different creative spaces. “If you love or hate Criss Angel, you might love this video,” the band says. “We worked with Kai Winikka again [director of the music video for When Horses Will Run single ‘The Great American Picnic’] so of course, this one is pretty insane. We wanted to go big with some bloody explosions and safe to say, we got the job done.”

Being Dead’s records are mosaics, technicolor incantations, each song its own self-contained little universe. Something about their music suggests it’s a dispatch from both the future and the past – vocal harmonies that sound like they’re reverberating in a medieval church to surfy guitar lines, weirdo-punky cacophonies erupting into chaos. For EELS, they decamped to Los Angeles for two weeks to record with GRAMMY-winning producer John Congleton. EELS is a darker record, tapped more into the devilishness within, but it’s also a more raucous, rougher ride sonically. There’s heartbreak, excitement, enchantment, dancing. It’s a fitting encapsulation of Being Dead, exuding a welcoming, playful energy even if something foreboding lurks just beyond the pale.
