Gomez and Black Honey UK Support Tours ‘House With A Pool’ EP Out Now

“[Loudmouth] is the perfect introduction: lyrically and vocally insouciant, sonically crisp and spare” – Sunday Times Culture

Following the release of their superb 7 track EP ‘House With A Pool’ Californian four-piece RUSSO has announced a string of UK shows including at the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading + Leeds festival and support dates for indie rock royalty Gomez and rising UK band Black Honey.

RUSSO are on the fast track to becoming one of the most exciting bands to emerge in 2018. Their sound, a refreshing blend of ska-pop and rock, coupled with their sweat-infused, high-energy live performances, is quickly compared by critics to the likes of No Doubt, Garbage and Blondie, with Clash saying their ‘songwriting bristles with energy and a palpable emotional connection’.

‘House With A Pool’ is an electrically-charged 7-track collection which reverberates with a certain energy; an underlying rebelliousness that seamlessly carries from one song to the next. Formed in Los Angeles in 2018, RUSSO consists of singer/songwriter Cailin Russo on lead vocals, Tyler McCarthy on guitar, Hayley Brownell on drums and backing vocals and Sean Ritchie on bass. ‘Fading Into Grey’ / ‘My Only Soul’ Plays Shepherds Bush Empire October 9th Announces tour with Lewis Capaldi

Listen to the tracks here: https://lnk.to/FIGxMOS

Up and coming singer-songwriter Billy Lockett today releases two brand new singles ‘Fading Into Grey’ and ‘My Only Soul’ via East West Records. Billy plays his biggest headline show to date at the Shepherds Bush Empire October 9th and supports Lewis Capaldi on his autumn UK tour.

The two contrasting singles showcase Billy’s superb breadth as a songwriter, ranging from downtempo balladry on ‘Fading Into Grey’ to the racing, anthemic chorus of ‘My Only Soul’, both with Billy’s deft piano playing at their core.

“Fading Into Grey is about being honest when you have fallen out of love in a relationship, instead of leaving it to drag on,“ says Billy. “My Only Soul is about wishing you believed in ghosts, because at least being haunted would mean you could see a loved one again”.

These two new tracks follow previous 2018 singles ‘Feels So Good’ and ‘Empty House’. Billy’s debut EP ‘Burn It Down’ reached Number 1 on the singer songwriter chart and received over 6 million streams.

With champions from BBC Radio 1, 6Music, The Telegraph, The Independent, Metro, Evening Standard and The Times, support slots with Lana Del Rey and Birdy under his belt, as well as multiple sold-out London dates, including a Union Chapel show complete with string quartet in February, Billy is set to make 2018 his own.

In addition to his huge O2 Shepherds Bush Empire show, Billy has just announced his debut European headline tour. He also plays two more festivals this summer before heading out as support to Lewis Capaldi on his autumn tour:

Featuring A 23-Minute Original Composition Written, Filmed And Played On 7 Instruments By Grohl Released August 10th by Columbia on Digital Download and Streaming Platforms.

“Watching my kids start to play music and learn to sing or play drums, it brings me back to the time when I was their age listening to albums, learning from listening… and when I take my kids to the place where they take their lessons, I see these rooms full of children that are really pushing themselves to figure this out. And even now, as a 49-year-old man, I’m still trying to figure it out… it’s not something that you ever truly master. You’re always chasing the next challenge, and you’re always trying to find a way to improve on what you’ve learned.”—Dave Grohl.

As Foo Fighters wind down another leg of the massive Concrete and Gold tour with a Wrigley Field doubleheader that rocked 75,000+ of Chicago’s FF faithful, Dave Grohl announces an unprecedented new project born of the most challenging performance of his storied career:

“PLAY” is a two part mini-documentary, directed by Grohl with help from his Sound City/Sonic Highways collaborator Mark Monroe, celebrating the rewards and challenges of dedicating ones life to playing and mastering a musical instrument. Part one opens with narrated behind the scenes footage featuring discussion of the love of playing music and the lifelong relationship with an instrument, and detailing the process and challenges of recording and filming this unique performance.

“PLAY” film then segues to the titular 23-minute, one-man-band instrumental recording on which Grohl plays all seven instruments on the track, all live. The entire song was played by Grohl, each time on a different instrument, live for 23 minutes. Beginning with the recording of the entire drum track purely from memory, with no sheet music or guide tracks, followed by guitar, then bass, then keyboards, and so on… Grohl tasked himself with a one-man-band recording session that

was forced to start from the very beginning of the 23-minute song any time the slightest mistake was made or if Grohl felt he could do a better take. Concrete and Gold engineer Darrell Thorp was on hand to capture the sounds.

Filmed in classic black and white by Brandon Trost (The Disaster Artist, This is The End), with lighting modulating to match the dramatic peaks and valleys of this epic instrumental, “PLAY” was then edited to feature seven Grohls recording together. The “PLAY” online interactive experience offers viewer/listener/participants the options of taking in the mini-doc and Grohl performance as is, focusing on one instrument, and/or downloading “PLAY” sheet music. The online version of “PLAY” also includes a list of organizations where time, money and instruments can be donated to the cause—and places where musicians young and old alike can have the opportunity to play live music.

The challenges Grohl created for himself in creating “PLAY” mirror those taken on by music students every day: The obstacles they face in their daily efforts to elevate and improve their abilities are no different than those faced by a world class stadium rocker—both are striving for the same goals. This shared quest gave “PLAY” its mission to inspire and promote music education: The film is intercut with young musicians from the Join The Band music school in the San Fernando Valley practicing their craft, working relentlessly to get it right, and always coming back to the conclusion that, in Grohl’s words, “‘just like any kid, the reward is just to PLAY.”

Through partnerships with music and media organizations, schools and charities the world over, “PLAY” and its portrait of the joy of playing music should be a catalyst for discussion and action to benefit music education on a global level. Keep your eyes on play.roswellfilms.com for information on upcoming auctions with proceeds benefiting local music education organizations.

New Album ‘All You Have Is All You Need’ Out Early 2019

Watch the official video for ‘Society’ HERE

“What am I doing with my life?” is the question Ainslie Wills has been asking herself. Having earned her position amongst the pantheon of acclaimed songwriters globally, the Melbourne singer-songwriter returns with ‘Society’. Mixed by Chris Walla (Death Cab for Cutie), the soon-to-be classic will feature on her highly-anticipated second LP ‘All You Have is All You Need’, which will be released in early 2019.

Blessed with a voice of assured range and deep character, Society is a delicate, personal prayer. Directed by Ben McNamara, the official video further highlights Wills’ fearless songwriting and raw talent. “I want this song to be a talking point for people who feel restricted by the pressure that society places on us to fit into a conventional way of living and existing. I know I feel that pressure constantly,” says Wills.

With her beautifully crafted and honestly told stories, Wills has gathered an army of lifelong converts at home and internationally. Oh The Gold EP was picked up in the UK, becoming Lauren Laverne’s Track Of The Day on her BBC Radio 6 program and played on Guy Garvey’s Finest Hour, also on BBC6.

Her captivating live show has seen her support the likes of Leon Bridges, Grouplove and Michael Kiwanuka, grace the stages of The Great Escape, Falls Festival and several other renowned festivals in Australia and sell out headline

shows in Australia and the UK.  To celebrate the release of Society, Wills will perform at Reeperbahn (Germany) this September, with further Australian, UK and European dates to be announced shortly.

NEW ALBUM MARAUDER OUT AUGUST 24 ON MATADOR RECORDS

WATCH: Recently released video for “The Rover” filmed on-location in Mexico City starring Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls, The Punisher) HERE

Following the release of acclaimed single ‘The Rover’, Interpol returns with another song off of Marauder (out August 24 on Matador Records), the unpolished and gritty ‘Number 10’.  One of the loosest and most spontaneous tracks on the album, featured today as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Apple Music’s Beats 1, the song tells the story of a secret office romance between Ella, a domineering boss, and her employee. Their pent-up (and unconsummated) desire is matched by the song’s anxious tone, with its surf-inspired bassline, dueling guitars, and punchy percussion building up to an unrestrained, yearning finale.

Having wowed massive crowds of European fans at TRNSMT, BST Hyde Park, and Roskilde festivals in the past few weeks, Interpol will return to the UK in November for two shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall, as well as a date at Manchester’s O2 Apollo. Their North American tour kicks off in August, with the band playing the final NYC House of Vans show on album release day, and major East Coast, Midwest, Southwest, and West Coast shows to follow. A headline Madison Square Garden date is booked for 2019.  The full list of tour dates can be found below.

Released October 12th on Concord

Watch the Lyric Video for single ‘Unwanted Number’ HERE

Elvis Costello and The Imposters – Steve Nieve (keyboards), Davey Faragher (bass), Pete Thomas (drums) – have made a sensational new album that ranks alongside the best work this singularly great artist has ever produced.

Recorded in Hollywood, New York City and Vancouver, British Columbia, ‘Look Now’ is beautiful in its simplicity, reflective in its lyrical vision, surrounded by melodies and orchestrations that are nothing short of heavenly. It’s the first album Costello has made with The Imposters since the 2008 release of ‘Momofuku’ and his first new album since the acclaimed 2013 Roots collaboration, ‘Wise Up Ghost’.

Anyone anywhere in the world who has seen Elvis Costello and The Imposters live can testify to their unmitigated swagger. Costello’s suspicion that it was time to return to the studio was confirmed while on the ‘Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers’ tour of the USA, last summer and he realized the power and sheer musicality of The Imposters had never really been fully captured on one record.

“I knew if we could make an album with the scope of ‘Imperial Bedroom’ and some of the beauty and emotion of ‘Painted From Memory’, we would really have something”, said Costello.

‘Look Now’ is an outstanding 12-strong addition to his song catalogue. Most of the titles were written solely by Elvis Costello although, ‘Don’t Look Now’ and ‘Photographs Can Lie’ were co-written with Burt Bacharach, who makes a guest appearance, leading The Imposters from the piano for those two ballads.

Another song to which Bacharach contributed, ‘He’s Given Me Things’ features some of the best singing Elvis has ever recorded, while ‘Burnt Sugar Is So Bitter’ was written with Carole King and closes with a serpentine horn line winding around Steve Nieve’s atmospheric keyboard parts.

The album was co-produced by Elvis and Sebastian Krys – the Latin Grammy Producer of the Year for 2007 and 2015, whose love and understanding of music spans both hemispheres.

Sebastian had worked extensively with Pete and Davey in the Los Angeles studios, so it’s no surprise that this dynamic rhythm section was incredibly well-prepared for the recording sessions. “When Pete and Davey are in this kind of rare form, it’s wise to get on the back-beat with your Telecaster and stay out of their way”, said Costello.

Speaking of his own role as co-producer, Costello said, “I had all of the orchestrations and vocal parts in my head or on the page before we played a note, so it was essential that I worked closely with Steve Nieve to maintain the light and space in the arrangements and allow him to shine.”

Costello completed the picture by adding both guitar and his own vibraphone or celesta parts to his orchestrations but remarked, “Sebastian was there to make sure only the essential notes got onto the record, whether it was a fuzz-tone guitar or jazz bassoon.”

“In the final mixing, Sebastian did a beautiful job of keeping everything present but always lead by emotion or narrative, although when balancing the band, my voice and the quartet of woodwinds and horns that I’d written for ‘Stripping Paper’, I told him to “Just trust the blur.”

From today, fans who pre-order the 12-track standard or the 16-song deluxe album from digital retailers will instantly receive a download of two of the album’s standout tracks ‘Under Lime’ and ‘Unwanted Number’.

Asked for a further comment on the “Instant Gratification” phenomenon, Costello said, “That’s just the latest record business gimmick-speak for something you can get right away. I have to be straight with you; that sounds like a personal service that you might be offered in a dubious massage parlour.”

“I’d prefer to say that “The Elvis Costello Record Shop” is open for business again and when you pre-order the album, ‘Look Now’ you can get a couple of songs, RIGHT NOW”

Look out for more of these RIGHT NOW songs from ‘Look Now’ dropping in the weeks prior to the album’s release.

Including London O2 Forum November 20th

With their eagerly anticipated new album coming September 21st, METRIC have released the first single from it “Dark Saturday”, available on all streaming platforms now.

For the first time in 3 albums, guitarist Jimmy Shaw did not co-produce, preferring to hand over the production mantle to first time collaborator Justin Meldal-Johnsen who has previously worked with M83, Beck and Nine Inch Nails to name only a few. The album, which was recorded in METRIC’s own Giant Studio in Toronto, was also mixed by first time collaborator Tony Hoffer, whose countless credits include Phoenix, Depeche Mode and Air.

“Justin was just what we needed in a producer for this album”, says Jimmy. “He really saw every band member eye to eye and was able to capture what we each do best. It was something I realized I couldn’t do at this stage, having been in the band for so long. We were finally able to focus on just playing again, as we did at the start. Making this album brought us together in a way we hadn’t been for quite some time and I think you can hear it in the music.”

“This is our seventh album as a band”, says iconic frontwoman Emily Haines, “and we wanted the first song people heard from it to be “Dark Saturday” as a sonic heads up that our guitars are back in force. Lyrically, the song depicts a dystopian night life scene of gaudy wealth where oblivious party girls say nauseating things like, ‘I’m so rich everything’s free.’”

On July 12th METRIC kicked off a 38-date run of live performances in arenas across North America as special guests on the reunion tour of alternative rock legends Smashing Pumpkins. Tickets are available from www.ilovemetric.com/tour/

METRIC play the following UK dates in November as part of their European tour:

November
Sat 17th   BIRMINGHAM, O2 Institute 2
Sun 18th   GLASGOW, Queen Margaret Union
Mon 19th  MANCHESTER, O2 Ritz
Tues 20th  LONDON, O2 Kentish Town Forum

Lyrical excerpt of “Dark Saturday”:

Somewhere in the south of France, or the Caribbean Sea, she said, “I don’t need to make a living, fake diamonds got nothing on me”. I met her in the world below, she’s a tourist of the world beneath. I said, “Everything I built from nothing.” She said, “I’m so rich everything’s free.” So dark it ain’t so dark.

Forever and never, a torch in search of a flame. To be good, get better. I change by staying the same. Forever and never, a night in search of a day. As anxious as ever, it’s such a Dark Saturday.

What’s your name and where you from? Well I’m worth your weight in gold. While we lie here in the sun, the whole wide world’s about to explode. Now our bodies intertwine, and the truth is plain to see. I said, “Everything I built from nothing.” She said, “Don’t you blame your problems on me.”

A “Dark Saturday” music video directed by long-time collaborator Justin Broadbent and shot on the fly with nothing more than an iPhone X was also released today – watch it HERE. “The band and I agreed that shooting on an iPhone would be a good way to immediately connect a visual style to the authentic feeling of this record”, said Broadbent. “Because it was a ‘run and gun’ style video, we needed our footprint to be tiny and quick but the video quality still needed to be high. I think this also let the band relax, not having a huge camera and lights around while allowing me the freedom to try things on the fly.  Even the design of the final video looks like four separate screens magically lining up together.”

All pre-orders come with an immediate instant-grat download of “Dark Saturday” and will ship to arrive in time for release day. A minimum of 2 additional instant-grat tracks will be available for download prior to that. Fans who pre-order the album early will receive a signed, limited edition “Dark Saturday” 7” flexi-disc vinyl with their purchase at no extra cost, available only while supplies last.

SECOND LEG OF EVOLVE WORLD TOUR THIS SUMMER

Today multi-platinum, GRAMMY® Award-winning band Imagine Dragons release a brand-new song entitled “Natural” via KIDinaKORNER / Interscope Records. The band will perform the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this Thursday, July 19th. “Natural” has been chosen as the anthem of this year’s ESPN college football season.

“Living in a dog-eat-dog world can bring out the worst in you, and sometimes, the best,” says the band’s singer Dan Reynolds. “It would be a lie to tell you I haven’t become somewhat skeptical about some things in the last decade of my life. However, I believe that when you truly learn to love yourself, the judging eyes and hateful words become meaningless. ‘Natural’ is about finding yourself and being willing and able to stand up to whatever adversity comes your way.”

Imagine Dragons’ third studio album ‘Evolve’ has been certified double-platinum in the US within a year of its June 2017 release. Evolve has spent 55 weeks on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, where it currently sits at No. 17. The album is also 12th in the world on Spotify with over 36 million monthly listeners.

Imagine Dragons are currently out on the road for the second leg of their Evolve World Tour. See all upcoming dates HERE.

Watch Official Video For Lead Track ‘Loudmouth’ HERE

Following the release of their latest superb sonic offering “Ghost,” which V Magazine hailed as a “funky groove-rock jam,” American four-piece RUSSO has released their incredible debut EP, “House With A Pool” worldwide.

RUSSO are on the fast track to becoming one of the most exciting bands to emerge in 2018. Their sound, a refreshing blend of ska-pop and rock, coupled with their sweat-infused, high-energy live performances, critics are quick to compare this California based band to the likes of No Doubt and Blondie with Clash saying their ‘songwriting bristles with energy and a palpable emotional connection’.

‘House With A Pool’ is an electrically-charged 7-track collection which reverberates with a certain energy; an underlying rebelliousness that seamlessly carries from one song to the next. Alongside their Karen O-esque debut single “Lonely,”, and their most recent release, the guitar driven, grab-you-by-the-ear “Ghost’, there are three new tracks on the EP.

Lead Track “Loudmouth,” – watch the official music video directed by Toronto-based collective, Kid. Studio HERE — is a spunky dance-floor anthem for the ages, “Bad Things” is an old school rocker and EP closer, “Joyride”, a sweet and soulful rock ballad that still manages to hold on to its edge and grit.

Formed in Los Angeles in 2018, RUSSO consists of singer/songwriter Cailin Russo on lead vocals, Tyler McCarthy on guitar, Hayley Brownell on drums and backing vocals and Sean Ritchie on bass. Currently in the midst of a West Coast tour, RUSSO have previously supported Jessie Ware as well as American singer and actress Madison Beer.
