Miles Kane releases his third solo album ‘Coup De Grace’, a blistering exercise in modern rock ‘n’ roll, August 10th on Virgin EMI.

Currently in the midst of a rip roaring UK club tour with his explosive new band, Miles has been previewing several album highlights including the current single ‘Loaded’ written by Miles, Lana Del Rey and Jamie T; the T Rex inspired ‘Cry On My Guitar’ and the insanely catchy ‘Too Little Too Late’.

‘Coup De Grace’, is Miles’ first solo album since 2013’s ‘Don’t Forget Who You Are’ and well worth the wait. Recorded in LA, produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent), Miles wrote much of the album with Jamie T.

“This record for me is the most important record I’ve made to date” said Miles. “It’s been 5 years in the making, a lot of emotion and excitement has gone into making this album!”

Since joining The Little Flames 14 years ago, Miles has seen the pop climate change considerably but still believes the magic’s in the music. He’s like an excitable schoolboy who just went to his first gig. His enthusiasm is contagious. “For me to really love someone, I have to want to be them,” he enthuses. “You want to look the way they look, move the way they move. To me, going to my first gigs, it was always otherworldly: how do I get there?”

His arrival was never a doubt. Enjoy the ride!

JOINED BY EXCLUSIVE REUNION OF IGGY POP WITH POST POP DEPRESSION, TENACIOUS D, GARBAGE, GRETA VAN FLEET, SILVERSUN PICKUPS AND MANY MORE, PLUS CARNIVAL RIDES, WATER PARK, ROCK-N-ROLL MUSEUM FRIDAY NIGHT PARTY WITH BILLY IDOL, BRIDGET EVERETT, MEXRRISSEY & OTHERS TBA OCTOBER 5-6, 2018 AT GLEN HELEN REGIONAL PARK TICKETS ON SALE THIS THURSDAY AT 10AM PST

A year after the legendary debut weekend from which 30,000+ true rock believers have barely recovered… Cal Jam 18 is back for another weekend of joyful rock-n-roll abandon featuring 20+ bands on four stages this October 5-6, 2018. Promoted by Live Nation, the festival returns to Glen Helen Regional Park and Amphitheater in San Bernardino, CA, for an even more monolithic second incarnation of what the Los Angeles Times cited as the reason fans “come to music festivals: to feel connection and catharsis.”

Today, the festival has announced its guitars, guitars and more guitars lineup with Foo Fighters back as headliners and curators, and another once in a lifetime bill that proves that rock-n-roll is alive and well in California. The good times come at the affordable price of $99 (plus taxes and fees) for one day GA. This year, Saturday ticket holders have the option to buy a Friday night ticket for $30 (plus taxes and fees). All camping packages include free entrance to the Friday night Party.  Tickets and camping packages go on sale this Thursday, May 17th at 10AM PST. Visit www.caljamfest.com and www.LiveNation.com for more information.

The good times begin with the Friday night party on October 5th, where those with camping passes and Friday night tickets will be invited to kick off the festival with 80s punk legend Billy Idol. Also on the bill is Bridget Everett, the comedian who Jerry Seinfeld called, “one of the greatest live performers I have ever seen in my life,” and Mexico City’s Mexrrissey, performing their set of Smiths and Morrissey cover songs in Spanish, plus so much more. Friday night attendees will also have first crack at the carnival rides and the Rock-N-Roll Museum.

On Saturday, October 6th, Cal Jam will continue last year’s tradition of a 12-hour rock extravaganza where anything can happen—literally anything: last year saw the likes of Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Rick Astley, Dave Koz, Liam Gallagher and more joining the Foo Fighters on stage (yes, all during the same show). Foo Fighters will close the proceedings with one of their traditional rock marathons, bringing back what Forbes called “another great rock and roll party from the band who does them better than anyone else today.” And where last year’s inaugural festival was the beginning of the Foo Fighters’ Concrete and Gold Tour, this year’s appearance brings it full circle as the tour’s final show in the LA area.

This year Dave Grohl and crew will be have set themselves up to play after literally the single hardest act to follow in the history of live music: the legendary Iggy Pop. Iggy’s Cal Jam 18 performance will be an exclusive one-off reunion with the all-star Post Pop Depression band that backed him on the handful of shows played in support of the album of the same name, featuring Queens of The Stone Age’s Joshua Homme, Dean Fertita and Troy Van Leeuwen and Arctic Monkeys’ drummer Matt Helders.

The incomparable Jack Black and Kyle Gass of Tenacious D will bring ‘The Metal’ to the masses, and alternative pop-rock icons Garbage will be bring their powerhouse live show to the stage. Also joining the bill will be some of the best that rock and roll has to offer from around the world with the likes of Greta Van Fleet, Silversun Pickups, Manchester Orchestra, Krist Novoselic’s new band Giant In The Trees, Slaves (UK), Gang of Youths, Black Mountain and more performing throughout the day. See full list below.

In addition to the full day of shred, the festival will include a number of activities open to attendees. Campers will be treated to outdoor midnight movies and access to the water park.  As well as the newly christened Friday Night Comedy Tent curated by comedian Tim Hanlon (aka Dave’s cousin). Stay tuned for the full schedule to be announced!  All ticket holders will be able to enjoy the site’s free carnival rides, the Rock-N-Roll museum, pop up record shop and a hillside full of flappy guys. Because we can. For those who are looking to imbibe in tasty eats and cold drinks, Cal Jam 18 offers a wide variety of curated food trucks, traditional festival food, and all sorts of delicious delicious cold beer.

ABGT300 celebration comes to Hong Kong The global dance heavyweights will broadcast 300th radio show live from Hong Kong on September 29th

Above & Beyond (aka Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki) today announced plans to celebrate the 300th episode of their cult radio show, Group Therapy, with a live broadcast from one of the world’s truly iconic cities: Hong Kong.

Previous host venues of Group Therapy (ABGT) milestone events include New York City’s Madison Square Garden, Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome and London’s Alexandra Palace, and now the annual electronic music pilgrimage will take place in the Far East for the first time, on Saturday September 29.

Last year’s ABGT250 celebrations saw over 23,000 fans converge on the stunning Gorge Amphitheatre near Seattle, while the 2016 edition broke new ground when fans from over 70 countries made the journey to Amsterdam to celebrate 200 episodes of Group Therapy.

2018 has already been an eventful year for Above & Beyond, with the group’s fourth artist album ‘Common Ground’ debuting at Number 3 on Billboard’s Album Chart and topping the iTunes Dance charts in over 40 countries. A sell-out tour of North America followed at some of the US’ most prestigious venues including, among others, the LA Convention Center, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and Miami’s Old RC Cola Plant.

Above & Beyond commented: “Last year’s ABGT250 Weekender at The Gorge was a magical experience but also left us wondering ‘how do we follow that?’ The answer was to go for something completely different and Hong Kong and the Far East represent a new frontier for Group Therapy, at what is an exciting and groundbreaking time for electronic music in the region.”

Fans who can’t make the trip will be pleased to hear that Above & Beyond will once again broadcast the whole event live online. More details on how fans can participate in the livestream will be revealed over coming months. Last year’s ABGT250 livestream reached over two million people, with the event hashtag reaching top spot on Twitter’s trending charts.

With previous ‘ABGT’ milestone events selling out rapidly, fans are advised to pre-register for tickets via Facebook Messenger or Email at ABGT300.com. Those who register will be sent a link giving them a chance to purchase tickets at early bird prices on Friday, May 18 at 6pm HKT / 11am BST before the general on-sale on Monday, May 21. Full venue details will be revealed prior to the on-sale, along with plans for an Anjunadeep Open Air after party on Sunday, September 30.

Lead Single ‘Lovesick’ Impacts June 29th Plays The Dome Tufnell Park October 4th

Rising UK star LAUREL has announced her incredible debut album ‘DOGVIOLET’, out August 24th on Counter Records. Leading with infectious debut single ‘Lovesick’, the evocative and effortless 12 track LP sees Laurel showcase her sublime vocals and raw guitars.

Recorded without glossing over the imperfections and driven by her personal lyrics and stirring melodies, every track on the album was written and recorded in LAUREL’s home studio in East London. It was then taken to Gizzard Studios to be fed back through a reel-to-reel tape recorder, re-capturing the organic tone that is prevalent within her breathtaking live shows.

Titled after the flower, ‘DOGVIOLET’ is a deeply personal exploration of the bittersweet feeling of love. Laurel says ‘I wrote these songs at home often locking myself away for periods of time in order to capture the true mania that comes from love; although a beautiful feeling, it can often feel a lot uglier.’

Following a huge 2017, including a UK and European tour with Oh Wonder, two sold-out UK headline tours, and appearances at The Secret Garden Party, Live At Leeds, Outlines Festival and Golden Leaves Festival, Laurel is due to play the following UK Dates this autumn:

Fri 21st    MANCHESTER, Soup Kitchen
Sat 22nd    GLASGOW, Stereo
Sun 23rd    NEWCASTLE, The Think Tank
Tues 25th   SHEFFIELD, The Leadmill – Steel Stage

Thurs 4th    LONDON, The Dome Tuffnell Park

Tickets on sale 10am Tuesday 15th May. Head to http://www.classiclaurel.com/ for details

First single ‘Lovesick’ sets the tone for the album, with open, sparse production revealing LAUREL’s effortlessly emotive voice and the vintage warmth of her guitar playing. Other album highlights include spellbinding live favourite ‘Life Worth Living’, the infectiously wounded ‘Adored’, spikey punk pop hit ‘Same Mistakes’ and bitingly intense track ‘Sun King’ showcasing LAUREL’s mesmerising and intense vocals, seeing her singing ‘What is life, but a dream’.

Already receiving support from Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart, Apple Music, Spotify, The Guardian, Wonderland and I-D Magazine, as well as partnerships with Burberry, Ellesse, Levis and Vans, ‘DOGVIOLET’ follows LAUREL’s incredible ‘Park’ EP and her captivating Spotify Live EP, released in 2017.

Plays London Borderline October 11th Thu 03rd May 2018

Dawn Landes is one of the most fearlessly innovative musicians working today, but the songwriter has made potentially her boldest turn yet with ‘Meet Me At The River’ out September 14th on Yep Roc Records.

The twelve-song collection results from an unexpected partnership with Nashville legend Fred Foster, whose list of production credits includes Roy Orbison’s “Hey Pretty Woman,” Dolly Parton’s debut album and Kris Kristofferson’s first #1 ‘Jesus Was A Capricorn’.

Teaming with the Country Music Hall of Famer was far from a predictable move for Landes, whose previous collaborators include Sufjan Stevens, Nico Muhly, Norah Jones, Will Oldham and Andrew Bird. Despite shaping up as something of a musical odd couple, Landes and Foster bring the best of their respective worlds to ‘Meet Me At The River,’ creating something a more conventional pairing could never touch.

‘Meet Me At The River’ marks the first time that Foster has taken on a new act in years, only sporadically producing for friends like Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Ray Price. That all changed when Landes cold-called Foster from a tour with Sufjan Stevens in New Zealand. Upon her return to the States, they spent hours in Foster’s Tennessee home; listening to Hank Williams and trading stories as Landes dazzled with her heart-wrenching vocals and expressive songwriting. The connection was instant, and Foster’s semi-retirement was no more.

For the ‘Meet Me At The River’ sessions, Foster assembled an A-Team of Nashville musicians: 13-time Academy of Country Music drummer of the year Eddie Bayers, fellow Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie McCoy on harmonica and ‘From Elvis In Memphis’ pianist Bobby Wood among them. Foster even recruited Bobby Bare, with 70 hits on the country charts in a five-decade career, to duet with Landes on her original “I Don’t Dance.”

The track is one of ten Landes-penned songs on the record, embracing themes of heartbreak (“Why They Name Whiskey After Men”), wanderlust (the insatiably catchy “Traveling”) and reckoning with youth (“Southern Girl,” “Old Memories”). ‘Meet Me At The River’ also sees Landes revive a pair of lost gems from folk singer Jimmy Driftwood, a Foster collaborator from the 1960s. His politically-charged “What Is The Color Of The Soul of a Man” feels particularly poignant in Landes’ hands, even 55 years after its initial release.

Landes will bring ‘Meet Me At The River’ to life during a string of intimate shows in the UK & Ireland this October:

October
Thurs 11th   LONDON, Borderline
Fri 12th    MANCHESTER, The Eagle Inn
Sat 13th    DUBLIN, Whelan’s (Upstairs)
Mon 15th   GLASGOW, Poetry Club

COLLECTION FEATURES ALL-NEW SONGS ALONGSIDE REINTERPRETATIONS OF CLASSIC TRACKS FROM DAVIES’ BRILLIANT FIVE-DECADE CAREER BACKED ONCE AGAIN BY THE JAYHAWKS PLUS UK MUSICIANS AND CHOIR PRE-ORDERS AVAILABLE NOW

“OUR COUNTRY follows my journey across America; through endless tours not just to reclaim the Kinks’ career, but to rediscover the country that offered me my earliest inspirations.”
– Ray Davies

Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release OUR COUNTRY: AMERICANA ACT II, the eagerly awaited new album from Ray Davies on Friday, June 29. This new studio album will be available on CD, 2LP vinyl and digital formats. Pre-order OUR COUNTRY: AMERICANA ACT II now at: http://smarturl.it/RD_OCA2

The first track, “Our Country,” premiered today.

The continuing story of The Kinks co-founder’s journeys through America, as depicted in his 2013 memoir Americana and last year’s album of the same name, OUR COUNTRY: AMERICANA ACT II is an album borne from Davies’ vision of America — how it shaped him and evolved through the years. His reflections on his experiences in America instigate personal reformation, and eventually rediscovery and celebration of his own origins.

OUR COUNTRY, like its predecessor, was recorded at the legendary Konk Studios in London with guitarist Bill Shanley and The Jayhawks once again serving as Davies’ backing band plus a group of UK musicians. The album picks up several intriguing musical threads from Davies’ extraordinary songwriting catalog, from the opener “Our Country” – which is developed from a melodic theme heard in AMERICANA’s title track – to reinterpretations of songs inspired by America and written for various projects over the years, including “Oklahoma USA” (first heard on The Kinks’ MUSWELL HILBILLIES), “The Real World” (from 2007’s acclaimed solo album, WORKING MAN’S CAFÉ) and “The Getaway” (from 2006’s OTHER PEOPLES LIVES).

OUR COUNTRY: AMERICANA ACT II was arranged and produced by Ray Davies; the album was co-produced by Guy Massey and John Jackson. All songs by Ray Davies.

Davies’ first all original solo work in a decade, AMERICANA was greeted with international critical acclaim upon its release last year. “The Kinks legend uses AMERICANA to blaze a path through both America’s rock ’n’ roll history and his own,” raved Pitchfork. “Its back-to-basics energy and prosaic storytelling make it Davies’ best solo album in years.” Mojo called it “his most personal album to date” and Uncut said that “AMERICANA is a deeply satisfying reminder that Davies remains a songwriter with a huge reach but few equals”. “There’s a lot to chew on,” wrote American Songwriter, “but AMERICANA is a first class offering from one of the UK’s most feted songwriters and a worthy entry into Ray Davies’ rightfully esteemed catalog.” “AMERICANA is a big story,” wrote Consequence of Sound, “and it’s not one with tidy resolutions or easy fixes. But Davies is far less preoccupied with trying to tie up the loose ends than he is pointing out America’s dual narratives. There is the fantasy and there is real life, and more often than not they bleed over into one another. And once again, it took the efforts of one of our greatest living songwriters to spell it all out for us.”

Ray Davies is currently working on a theatre/film piece based on both AMERICANA and OUR COUNTRY. Watch this space for further developments.

Home to the Harrison family archive of Indian Classical and World music and George’s collaborations with the finest exponents of Indian Classical music First reissues available digitally today (April 27th), via streaming outlets for the first time

The George Harrison Estate is happy to announce their new label, HariSongs, created in partnership with Craft Recordings to release the Harrison family archive of Indian Classical and World music and George’s collaborations with the finest exponents of Indian Classical music.

To celebrate this body of music, HariSongs launches today with two reissues in honour of Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan’s shared birthday month (b. 7th April, 1920 and 14th April, 1922, respectively). These titles — both recently out-of-print, and never before available via streaming platforms — are the acclaimed Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan In Concert 1972 and the last collaboration by George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, Chants of India. These digital-only reissues are now available for the first time via streaming outlets, as well as to download.

About In Concert 1972:

In Concert 1972 was originally released via Apple Records in 1973, with a statement that read: “Within the small community of brilliantly gifted musicians there exists an even smaller world of Masters. Two of these masters recently joined together in concert …” The album features two of Indian Classical music’s greatest artists at the height of their powers, the sitar maestro Ravi Shankar and master of the sarod, Ali Akbar Khan. The album captures the live recordings from a performance that took place at New York City’s  Philharmonic Hall on October 8, 1972 and was edited and mixed by George Harrison with Zakir Hussain and Phil McDonald. Featuring tabla accompaniment by the great Alla Rakha, this mesmerising concert comprises three ragas played in the jugalbandi style (or a duet played by two solo musicians) and became a poignant tribute to the guru of both soloists (and the father of Ali Akbar), the great Allauddin Khan, who had died but a month previously. Audio for this reissue was sourced from the original master 1/4” analogue tapes which were digitized at FPSHOT (Friar Park Studio Henley-on-Thames) and remastered by Paul Hicks, Gavin Lurssen & Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering (Hi-Res 96/24 and 192/24 audio also available).

Stream or download In Concert here: http://found.ee/HariSongs-InConcert-Digital-C

Critical praise received:

“This wonderful recording comes from a show at New on most Shankar albums of the period, to the natural extension and patient exploration of an Indian classical-music evening.”
– Rolling Stone

“This is the living, fire-breathing embodiment of one of the greatest partnerships ever forged in Hindustani (Northern Indian) classical music… Two musicians pouring their hearts out for their guru: that is the most succinct description of this sometimes smouldering, sometimes fiery, masterpiece.”
– Gramophone Magazine

About Chants of India:

Chants of India by Ravi Shankar and produced by George Harrison was originally released in 1997 on Angel Records. Recorded in Madras, India, and Henley-on-Thames, UK, this collaboration was referred to by Shankar as “one of the most difficult challenges in my life, as a composer and arranger,” and draws upon the sacred Sanskrit texts of the Vedas, Upanishads and other scriptures. He added, “the repetitive use of mantras invoke a special power within oneself and I have tried to imbibe this age-old tradition in this recording… into which I have poured my heart and soul.”

Stream or download Chants of India here: http://found.ee/HariSongs-Chants-Digital-W

Critical praise received:

“Perhaps the very best introduction to the enduring creative friendship between the Bengali classical master and the scruff from Liverpool’s back streets.”
– Mojo

“Chants of India represents a creative milestone in the life of a veteran artist whose contributions to traditional Indian music cannot be overestimated.”
– Billboard

“Shankar took Hindu prayers, mantras and scriptural texts and framed them within larger musical settings, incorporating both Indian and European instruments along with voices. The results are transporting – and very beautiful.”
– NPR Music

Released 19 years ago, Travis’ ‘The Man Who’ sounds as fresh today as it did then.  One of the most successful British albums of the last 20 years, it spawned the timeless singles, ‘Writing To Reach You’, ‘Driftwood’, ‘Turn’ and possibly the band’s most iconic song, ‘Why Does It Always Rain On Me’.

School friends Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian formed Turin Brakes in Balham South London and went onto release Mercury Music Prize nominated debut album The Optimist in 2001 followed by Ether Song in 2003 which featured the top 5 hit single Pain Killer (Summer Rain).
